My Steven Is Here

Saturday we golfed with the neighborhood, we didn't win any prize money, just donated. We all went to Bob Evans for lunch afterward. In the evening Jim and Jane came over and we had an assembly line going for making Christmas cookies. We had a cookie swap at work and I needed nine dozen cookies. We had a good time and with that much help it didn't take that long. Steven got here about nine o'clock. It is always good to see my boy..
I worked on Sunday, very busy. Today Pam had her new solar tube installed, had her house powerwashed and went shopping. He hung out with Pam, driving her around since I was working. We were slammed, big family parties, all the relatives are here for the holidays.UGH but I don't have to work until next Sunday. Yeah.. Tonight we took him to Katie Belle's for his birthday dinner, then off to Margaritaville for drinks. Norman Lee was there and he that place rocking and a-rolling. Now I am going to finish this and go to bed.

Way Too Busy To Blog

I have been way too busy to blog since Pam and Dave got here. It has just been a whirlwind of activity. Here are some of the things that we have been doing, not in any particular order because my memory is not as good as it once was...
Golfing, Bunco, Going to Orlando to see "The Singing Christmas Trees", taking a very long golf cart ride, about twenty miles, to see all the Christmas lights and then having a bonfire at Sandy's and Jimmy's house, going to "WheretheheckamIat" at Lake Panasoffe, going to Marguaritaville and Katy Belle's, attending the Michigan Christmas party and dinner, eating out quite often, almost every night at every place from Bob Evans to the Outback, going to the square and dancing, going to some great shows at the Church on the Square, playing Screw Your Neighbor, WII bowling, shuffleboard, more golf, shopping until we dropped, cooking, going to the pool, visiting with friends and neighbors, movies, Red Hats etc. In between all of that I have not missed any work and we are almost done with Pam's house, including painting the living room twice because Pam didn't like the color. We have installed new kitchen cabinets, new floors in kitchen, dining and bathrooms, new toilets, pictures, new blinds, new lights etc.We also got Pam and Dave a good deal on a new golf cart. Today we got up and made Christmas cookies, wrapped presents, had lunch at Tony Packo's, went to the model railroad show and now we are going to eat homemade vegtable soup and bread and then we are off to the Orange Blossom Opry for a country jam. Dave leaves early in the morning and I have to work.

Shopping, Shopping, Shopping

Me and Pam spent almost the entire day shopping. First Lowe's, Wal-mart, K-mart, Lowe's again and Aldi's. We were dead tired when we got home but we fixed a nice supper and Pam baked a cake. And don't you know it, we had to go back to Lowe's for the third time in one day. We spend more time there then the employee's.
Jane came over for dinner and we finished putting all her slides on DVD's for her kids for Christmas. It is raining cats and dogs right now but should be done by tomorrow. We really needed the rain.

Busy Monday and Tuesday

I worked Monday and while I was gone the gang painted at Pam's house. They got the kitchen and ceiling painted. It's too bad I had to work.
In the evening we went to the "Outback" with the Ohio Club.
Today was quite a day. Pam had to go to the bank. I had to make cookies for the digital scrapbooking club, Bud and Dave worked on the house. A company came and cut down our holly tree and Pam's big pine tree. Lowe's came and put down both her bathrooms floor. We went to the digital scrapbooking club meeting and then a nice lunch with Marguerite. Then we went to the lighing store and of course, Lowe's again.
We ate chili and Dave's leftovers for dinner and then headed out to the square for the Tree Lighting Ceremony. It was a beautiful night out, not too chilly and there was a full moon.
Now we are home and we are all ready to go to bed. It has been one long day...

Pam and Dave Are Here

Pam and Dave surprised me at Bob Evans when they stopped for breakfast today. I got off work a little early and we just visited and Pam took me for long ride in our new golf cart. She really likes the way it drives.
We met Pam and Rod at the Church on the Square to a group from Branson, called the Yeary's. They put on a nice show and they we went to Pam's favorite restarant TooJays for dinner. We talked Dave into ordering a sandwich that we had seen before.
It is called a Jaymongous and it is huge. Everyone in the place looked at us and laughed. When we were leaving some ladies at the next table asked Dave if he ate the whole thing and he said no. They called him a whimp....
Then we danced our way back to our golf carts...all in all a very nice day...

One Lost Week

I have been slacking. At night I have been so tired I couldn't even type but I will try to catch up. Monday night we went to Orchid Siam. They have Thai food but we really went to see the bluegrass and country band "Last Tyme Out". Very good...
On Thursday the gang went golfing at Truman and then went to Bill and Eva's for drinks. Then on to Cody's Roadhouse for Thanksgiving dinner. A nice dinner but I missed cooking, my family and all the leftovers. I guess Thanksgiving is nice in the Villages, just different.
On Saturday we went golfing with the neighborhood at Turtle Mound. A wonderful par three course that I really enjoyed. It was a beautiful day and then we went to Mallory Country Club for lunch.
Saturday night we just kind of chilled out. Pam will be here tomorrow.

Too Busy To Write

It has been a hectic few days here, so much going on I can't even remember what I have done. Anna and Jane came for an improtu dinner and then we tried to work on Jane's slides but couldn't get the machine to work. Then Jane helped me with Megan's baby aftghan. On Thursday we played shuffleboard, our team is in next to last place but I won two games and Bud won one. Those folks are avid shuffleboard players. On Friday I worked and then we went to the Ohio Club with the gang. Nice potluck and good entertainment. On Saturday I got up at 4 a.m. and took Anna to the bus shuttle so she could take the shuttle to Orlando. I crawled right back under the covers and then went golfing at Mira Mesa at nine. Finished golfing, headed to the Bacall Rec Center for the Ohio-Michigan Game. We stayed home on Saturday night and Jim and Jane came over and Jim Hester was here to show us how to covert Jane's slides to pictures. I worked on Jane's pics and my aftghan. Extremely long day.... Worked on Sunday, very busy and we finally got some rain on Sunday afternoon. By 6:30 we had our showers and were down for the night.

Glorious Monday and Tuesday

On Monday I worked, it was busy, slow, busy, slammmed and then slow again. Makes for a long day. After work I went golfing and did okay, got one par and we played at Hawk's Bay.
Tuesday morning I went to Digital Scrapbooking Club and they really liked my new pages. Bud worked at Pam's all day and I went grocery shopping and to the used bookstore called "All Booked Up". It is one of my favorite stores, they always have something I want to read.
In the evening we went to the Michigan Club and they had a speaker, a man who lives in the Villages, and he is the last survivor of the raising the flag at Iro Jima. He gave a good speech and had pictures. Of course we had to have an cream social and a raffle. I won $20. This is getting to be better than a part-time job.
Now I am going to bed, didn't sleep too well last night.

Glorious Days

Saturday was just a glorious day, sunshine, beautiful and not too hot. You couldn't have asked for a better day for our golf cart Ohio Club Poker Run. Bill, Eva, Rod, Pam and me and Bud raced to get the best hand. The entire club met at I-Hop restaraunt for lunch and to claim our best poker hand. First place paid $50, Bud won $8 for three sixes. The rest of us just went for a good golf cart ride....
Saturday afternoon, me, Pam and Rod played a round of golf at Hilltop. Bud was just my caddie since he still can't play. I didn't do too bad but lost a bet with Rod for a quarter.
Then they came to our house for homemade beef barley soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. We played the new game I got called Farkle. They play it on Facebook and when I saw it at the store I bought it. We had a fun evening and I won...
Today I worked and really worked hard. I don't know where all the people are coming from. We had a line from the moment I got there until two o'clock. Tonight I made meatloaf and we just stayed home. Bud worked at Pam's house all day so he was tired too.

We Live In a Wonderful Place

On Tuesday we bit the bullet and bought a new golf cart. We have saved for it, we needed it and it was our 43rd wedding anniversary present to each other. It is a Yamaha gas cart with a sumbrella enclosure. It even has a gas gauge and speedometer. Wednesday night I went to Bingo at the Jewish Synagogue, won eleven dollars and had a great time. The pots are really good there, around $250 but I only won a door prize.
Thursday a cold front came through and it wasn't as cold as it was windy. We played shuffleboard and I won one game and so did Bud but I didn't dress for it to be that cold so I sat out the last game. After the game we went to Karen and Murray's house for drinks and met their neighbors who are from Trenton Michigan. Today I worked and we were swamped again. The day went really fast.
Tonight we met Ben and Ann for dinner at the Sunrise Cafe. The food was okay but they have entertainment and it was wonderful. It was a blue grass and country band and every seat was filled. I liked every song they sang. There is so many places you can go and be entertained it is amazing. I have been entertained to the max. I can't wait to take Dave there, he will love it.
Rob called and said they are now going to Hawaii in January instead of coming to Florida. I realize it might be their last chance to go to Hawaii and be able to have a place to stay for free but I was looking forward to them coming here. Well, maybe next year....They did send me Dakota's school picture and he is a beautiful child.

Watching Hurricane Ida

On all of the news channels they are warning everyone about Hurricane Ida and what might happen here. They say strong winds and rain. Well, we woke up today to 70 degrees and the sun is shining. It is almost like being up north when they turn two inches of snow into a blizzard. I must admit you have to be careful but I hate it when they blow everything out of propotion.
On Monday I worked and then met Jane, Pam, and Sandy at Saddlebrook to play golf. I got one par and that was about it. The ranger came along and said we weren't playing fast enough and I don't like that. I don't like to feel so rushed.
Then Bud and Rod met us at Bob Evans for dinner. They were still busy, lots of people like their new dinners and they also like the price. Very, very good.
On the way home we stopped and got some groceries at Wal-Mart. I sure didn't feel like grocery shopping after a full day but I don't like to always have to do errands on my days off.
I think we will go look at golf carts today when Bud gets home from his therapy. He is dying to get a new one.

Busy Sunday

Worked today and it was super busy. It was gorgeous outside today but a little windy. Bud was down to Pam's working when I got home. He can't wait until they really let him do some heavy work. He starts theraphy on Tuesday, three times a week for four weeks.
I made a nice dinner and we just sort of vegged out this evening. I have got a long day ahead of me tomorrow, work and then golf and then dinner out.
I hope I make it....

Happy Anniversary

It is already Saturday and I am trying to get caught up with this blog, I have been busy. We had a great time with Don and Twyla being here. On Wednesday night we took them to the square to see a show and it was wonderful, very entertaining and the price was right, free. Then we went to TooJays for dinner and Twyla ordered a new sandwich called the "Jaymongous". Let me tell you it was monstrous. That was the biggest sandwich I have ever seen and I left my camera at home. We laughed so hard, no one could possibly eat that much corn beef. So she broke it apart and they got enough meat for eight sandwiches. It was an excellent doggie bag.
We spent the day Thursday getting ready for the party. Things went well, way too much food but I think the guests had a good time. We all attended the Orange Blossom Opry Jam and it was quite good. One singer in particular was excellent. I know I enjoyed it.
They left Friday morning and I went to work. Friday night we crashed, company takes a toll on us, lots more than it used to. Are we getting old or what?
Today I golfed and would you believe I won again. Our team was two under. That is three weeks in a row. How exciting is that. We had lunch at Orange Blossom Gardens and just putzed around the rest of the day. Tomorrow is another work day...It has been a good week.

My First Birdie

Sunday I worked, extremely busy. The snowbirds have returned in full force. When I got home Don and Twyla were already here, she told me they wouldn't be here until Monday afternoon. So naturally I wasn't exactly ready. I hadn't even gone to the store yet. So we went to the store and then got Chinese take-out for dinner.
In the evening me and Twyla went to Havana Country Club to listen to the music and then we went to the square for a while.
Today I had to go to work and I didn't get to leave until after three. Me, Jane, Sandy and Pam had a 3:45 tee time at El Santiago so I just made it. We had a great time and I golfed very well for me. I made my first birdie ever. It made my day...
Twyla went shopping and to the show while I worked. She's a good guest, she can entertain herself. Twyla and Bud had dinner ready went I got home. It was so nice to have dinner all ready. Well, I am totally exhausted so I am going to bed..

Fall Festivities in The Villages

Friday I worked, pretty busy. By four o'clock we were at the square to watch the October Fest parade. I took some pictures but a lot of them are fuzzy, I don't know what the problem was. Then eight of us went to Giovanni's to eat dinner. I had the best brushetta and meatballs. After that we went to Rod and Pam's to have a drink of Apple Pie. It is so good, I even can drink it.
This morning I golfed with the neighborhood and Bernie was my partner. My lucky streak is still going as our team won the money and I also got closest to the pin. That is first time I ever won that. Then I found out we won last week also,(we had to leave right away),so I got more money for that. I came home and rested for a bit and then we went for a long drive to a fish restaurant on the river, called Stumpknockers. It is kind of a cute place and food was good. After that we came back to the Villages and went to the square to see all the costumes. Some people are so creative. Now I am home and I am not going to do anything. When I finish this I am logging off and getting in my chair.

I've Been So Lucky

On Monday I worked, pretty busy but they finally got me out at the correct time. In the evening me and Anna and Jane went to Bunco. I finally won, after all these years of playing I had the most Buncos. But unfortunately two other people had the same amount so we had to split. I ended up getting $27.00. Not too bad....
On Tuesday Marguerite and I hosted the Red Hats at the Cottilion Restrauant in Wildwood. They cook like Paula Dean, lots of butter, etc. The food was good and all the girls enjoyed it. We always have a raffle and guess who won. Me...I won $12 this time. I am on a roll so I might buy a lottery ticket today..Three of us went to the movies to see Julia and Julie. Now this is my third time to see it and I still enjoyed it. I really couldn't say that about most movies. When I find something good I like to share it with my friends and they hadn't seen it yet, so why not go again.
Today I have been planning our anniversary party and doing errands. I always say I am not going to do that running around on my day off and I always end up doing it anyway. Bud had the physical therapist here today and she said she will release him on Friday. He is so bored, just watching TV.

Beautiful Days in The Villages

Friday I spent the day working, my helper didn't show, what's new? So I had to stay until three p.m. which didn't make me happy. In the evening Pam and Rod brought over dinner and we just sat and talked after a very good dinner of homemade spagetti and sausage.
This morning I golfed with Mike Lawson, our neighbor, as Bud could not go. We golfed Briarwood, out by Nancy Lopez's golf course. The gang went to Nancy Lopeze's restruant for lunch but we didn't go as Mike had to hurry and get home for an open house. Bud and I went to the flea market when I got home to get a car phone charger and phone cases. They are so much cheaper there than at the Verizon Store. Tonight Jane made us a meatloaf dinner and then we went to Sumter Landing to see the "Stepfather". It was pretty good, quite scary. Now I have to get ready to go to work tomorrow. It was 91 degrees and sunshine when we left for the movies.
Bud is feeling pretty good, just bored staying in the house and sitting. His incision looks good and he hasn't taken any pain pills.

Bud Had His Surgery

The doctors called on Monday night and said be at the hospital on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. We were there with bells on. They did the surgery, no problems, large herniaed disk with bone fragments removed. By six-thirty that night we were home in our chairs. Bud is feeling better and they told him not to do anything, to not pick up anything heavier than five pounds, and no twisting or turning.
It is hard to keep him down, however.
I went with Anna to the Church on the Square on Wednesday night to see the entertainment, it was extemely entertaining. Then we watched the people dancing on the square. Today we went to Sunshine Bingo and Anna won one game. Then we went to play shuffleboard. We only took 10 out of 24 games. Tonight a nice couple called that I had met at shuffleboard and the six of us went to dinner at Orange Blossom Country Club. I drove and we figured Bud had to eat anyway and he is just sitting so we went. Then everyone came over here to sit and talk and get to know one another. I think we will be seeing these guys again.

Friday & Saturday

On Friday I worked and we were very busy. After work I went to Crisper's to meet all my friends from "Talk of the Villages" web site. We talk back and forth and this gives us a chance to meet and see who we are talking to. Then we met Kathy from Lowe's to go over Pam's kitchen cupboards again. We ate dinner and I crashed...
This morning I golfed with the neighborhood at Pimlico. Ray Manco subbed for Bud and we had a nice time. Everyone thought I had brought a ringer. He did very well.
At two o'clock Jim Weston from the digital scrapbooking club came and helped me with some computer questions. He left and I changed clothes and we met friends and went to Spanish Springs to see "Law Abiding Citizen" It was a great movie, full of suspense and you know it was good when the audience is screaming. Then we went to Naples Italian restrauant for dinner and now I am going to sit down and rest....

Great Days Off

I spent Wednesday morning at Lowe's ordering Pam's kitchen cupboards, then off to Wal-Mart for groceries. I made a roast, potatoes and carrots for dinner. Our good friends are back from Ohio and they came to dinner.
At Walmart I found some honey crisp apples and they were so good but I guess they didn't agree with me as I got one of my famous bubbles and it happened right before I was to go to shuffleboard today. So I went but I didn't feel well at all. We got rained out any way. It really poured this afternoon. Tonight I played night golf with the Michigan Club, Ray subbed for Bud. Well, I came in first place and won $25.00. Rod got $10 for closest to the pin, Pam came in second place and won $10 and Ray won $15. So we did okay. It was fun, it was a beautiful night out and about 80 degrees at 9 p.m.
Tomorrow it is back to work....

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

No Surgery Today

Bud didn't have his surgery today. We were all ready to go to the hospital and they called and said he had an uruinary infection and he has to take antibiotics and re-schedule. I was not a happy camper. Why didn't they let us know before this morning. We were all set, so I guess we will have to wait again. Do you think this will ever be over?
So we went shopping and then I went to the pool. It soothes my nerves and keeps my blood pressure down.
Tonight we are leftovers and are just watching NCIS. Tomorrow we will be having company for dinner and we have an appointment at Lowe's for Pam's cupboards at 8:30 a.m.

Monday, October 12, 2009

Another Hot One Today

It was oh so hot again today. The news at 5 p.m. said the air temperature in the Villages was 117 degrees. At work today the air conditioner was broken and the building heated up really fast. They finally fixed it but it was really uncomfortable for the people running around working. We were extremely busy today and being so hot didn't help anything.
Tonight Bud and I made spagetti and then I went to Bunco at Paradise Rec Center. I had four Buncos but six Buncos won. Not enough games to take the winners or losers spot either.
Tomorrow is Bud's surgery, sure hope it solves his problem and we can start doing all the things we want to do. I have only heard good things about his doctor....

107 Degrees On The Porch Today

The heat wave continues here in Central Florida, no relief until next Friday and then it will drop down to the high eighties....Oh, my isn't that funny..
On Friday I worked and we just stayed home Friday night. On Saturday I golfed with the neighborhood gang and Jane subbed for Bud. We did very well and won the money for the day. Then we went to Mallory Country Club for lunch. After that we went to the Internet Gambling place that opened up near Lowe's. We had fun but didn't win anything. They give you a coupon to lure you in but I don't think we will be going back. Then us girls went to Ocala to Hobby Lobby to get yarn to make Megan a baby afghan. On the way home we picked up Firehouse Subs and a $1 movie from the RedBox and all went to Jane's to watch, "The Soloist" with Jamie Foxx. It was okay but I glad it was only a dollar. They have that surround sound and you couldn't really hear the dialog with all that noise. Guess I am really getting old..
Today I worked and after work the four of us went to Lake Weir to Gator Joe's. It is right on the lake and the food was very good. There was a nice breeze and they have a nice beach there also. We left there and went to the square to hear Norman Lee. It is one heck of a singer and performer.
Now I just lost a game of scrabble to Pam and now I am going to bed.

How Hot Is It?

It is so hot outside that it almost makes you sick.It has set a record for the hottest October ever in central Florida. The air temperature was 105 degrees. In the morning I went to Fun Shine Bingo at Hilltop Pool, didn't win anything but it was fun. In the afternoon I played shuffleboard and it was so hot, I just lost my enthusiam. I could hardly wait for it to be over. In fact by the time I got home, I was too pooped to get dressed up and go to the Italian Parade. The parade starts at 4:45 and that is the hottest time of the day. I heard we missed a good one but I didn't want to get sick. So we just met friends and went to dinner and came home and collapsed. That was one long day.
Today I worked. Very busy but I had a good time. Most of my regulars are back for the season so it is nice to see them.
Tonight we went to our favorite store, Lowe's. Bud needed some thing for Pam's house and I just went along for the ride.

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Hot, Hot, Hot

It was extremely hot and humid today. Attended my first digital scrapbooking club for the season today. You sure learn alot of wonderful things. Marguerite and I went to lunch and had a nice chat.
When I got home Bud and I took the golf cart over to Spanish Springs and I had my nails done. Then we wanted to look at golf carts but they were closed so I said, "Let's go to Sweet Creams and get something for dinner." The grill was already closed down for the night so all we got was an ice cream cone. We were just leaving when Anna and Bill pulled up. So we went to their house and Bud hooked up her new printer and we watched our favorie TV show, NCIS. Now we are home and I am a little hungry, an ice cream cone just didn't do the trick.
At Spanish Springs they have turned the fountain water pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. These Villagers think of everything. it sure looked nice and was a nice gester. They have been having all kinds of fundraisers.

Beautiful Weather in the Villages

Saturday was just a beautiful day. Anna and I went to Katie Bell's in the afternoon to see the talent competition and the singers were great. In the afternoon we watched football and then met Anna and Bill at the hot tub and pool. The weather was so warm and the moon was full. It was just lovely.
On Sunday I worked and we were busy but we have been lots busier. It was good to see all of my regulars.Bud went to Bills and put up his motion detector light. Sunday night we just kind of vegged out.
Monday I worked. It started out slow and then it exploded. Lots of big golf groups and hen parties. I was pooped when I got home. I told Bud, "Did I say I missed working?" My feet and legs tell a different story. Since Bud fixed Bill's light, Bill came over and washed all my windows outside and Bud did the inside. I thought that was really nice of him. He is getting jobs all over the Villages.
Tonight Jim and Jane came over and we ate ice cream and made plans for the winter. We have all kinds of things planned. Jane is going to be my golf partner on Saturday.

My First Day Back At Work

Today was my first day back at work. They have made a few changes, fired some people and hired some others. They had lots of drama while I was gone, I should have written a book. It would really sizzle. They changed the computer system and I got a whole five minutes of training but I muddled through. Saw lots of my old customers, they still order the same things, sit in the same sections. I have never went anywhere everyday, day in and day out. You can set your watch by most of them.
They put in Pam's solar tube today. I found a $50.00 coupon so we had to have it done fast before the coupon ran out. It looks really good.
Tonight we went to Sam's Warehouse. It is just about a half mile from here but I just can't get enthused about it. Most of the quantities are way too big for us and I don't think their prices are that great. For instance, roma tomatoes were three pounds for six dollars. That is two dollars a pound, I don't like to pay over ninety-nine cents a pound. You have to really know your prices. It is a big store and quite nice but I won't hurry back.
I also went back to Comcast and signed up for a promotional package, a whole lot of new stations and movies for $36.00 a month for six months. That is less than we were paying for a lot less channels, so why not. Bud will enjoy it while he is convalescing. His surgery had been changed to a week from Tuesday.
Tonight we had re-runs for supper.

Next Firday is Bud's Surgery

The doctor's office called today and scheduled Bud's surgery for next Friday. Of course, that is one of my days to work but I am sure I can work it out. What a way to start, taking days off right away.
Today was a nice relaxing day, did some cleaning, laundry and took a walk. This afternoon our shuffleboard team started our season and I won one game out of three.I beat a man and he wasn't too happy about that but the women were tough. I heard they played all summer and that is what you have to do, practice, practice, practice.
I forgot to put in yesterday's blog that we went to a new place for lunch, Five Guys and a Burger. All they have is hamburgs, hot dogs and fries. They use real potatoes, fresh cut. The reason I know is that for a barrier between the wall and the tables, where you stand when you order is lined with fifty pound bags of potatoes. They were tasty and they give you so many fries. We only had one order and between the two of us we couldn't eat them all.
Tonight I made homemade macaroni and cheese, pretty good and plenty for tomorrow. I start working tomorrow and might not feel like cooking when I get home.

Bud To Have Surgery

Bud went to see Dr. Hill today and will have surgery as soon as they can set it up. The doctor said it will not heal itself and surgery is the only option to relieve the pain. That is our second opinion so I guess we will have to go with it.I just want Bud to be okay....
After the appointment we went looking for a new golf cart. Oh my, are they ever nice. Nice and expensive. So we will keep looking and dreaming for the time being.
Tonight we went up to the square and listened to the music, the place was packed and the weather was beautiful. People were eating outside at all the restaraunts and dancing all over.
Now we are home and watching our new favorite TV show, Criminal Minds.

Errand Day Today

I ran errands all day today. First I went to Comcast to see about a different package for the cable service. They sent us a letter that they had a program that has lots more channels then we have now and it is about ten dollars cheaper. So I told the girl to sign us up. She said "Oh, I can't do that today because you have the regular package until Oct 1.(which is tomorrow). I asked her if she could do it and save it for tomorrow since I was there today. "Oh, I can't do that, you have to come back tomorrow." If I could have hit her, I would have. Then I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics to get some yarn. Not a single person in there to answer a question. So I guess I will take my money elsewhere. Then I took a check to the bank for Pam to deposit in her Florida account. The clerk gave me the evil eye, like I was stealing. I am putting money in, do they know what in means. I am not taking money out....So I went home and pulled weeds in the front yard. At least they did not give me a hard time.
The Florida weather men are just like the ones up north like Blizzard Bill who talks up one inch of snow into a raging blizzard. Down here they say, "A large cold front is moving in, the weather will be quite a bit colder tomorrow. It might go down to the mid-eighties." If there is not a huge storm they just can't fill up ten minutes of air time so they have to say something. It makes me laugh out loud...I know you guys up north would welcome the eighties about now.
Tomorrow we see the neurologist. He comes highly reccomended from lots of people so keep your fingers crossed.
I have been playing Farkle on Facebook. That is pretty additive. If you haven't tried it, give it a go.

Things are Hopping Here in Florida

It has been a busy few days. All the neighbors have been by to see us, we have unpacked and straighten up, cleaned up and rested. We have been to the pool, went out with the Mancos on Friday night to the Havana Country Club. Sunday night we went to see "Julie and Julia" with Anna and Bill. They wanted to see it and I didn't mind seeing it again. It was just as the good the second time around. Then we went to Giovania' and had brushetta. It was marvelous.
Well, I join the ranks of the employed on Friday. I got the days I wanted and the times. They really spoil me here. I like to schedule my job around my activities so I like the same days I have always had.
Today, Marguerite and I went to Wildwood to a cute little restaurant to check it out for the Red Hats. They had the best corn bread and desserts are way too good. I am sure there are no calories in any of it. Even the corn bread is served with a sweet butter made with syrup that was out of this world.
Today I made homemade vegetable soup for dinner. It turned out great and Dave came over for supper. He just loves my soup. Then Anna and I went to play Bunco. I didn't win enough games for high games and I didn't lose enough for low score either. Guess I am just a middle of the road girl.

We Are in Florida

On Wednesday night all the kids came over for pizza and to say good-bye to us. They even brought the grand dogs, Harley, Cody and Oliver. I love to come to Florida but I miss my kids and grand kids. However with the new Skype camera I have I hope to see them all often.
Our trip to Florida was non-eventful, thank goodness. All of our neighbors met us as we were getting out of the car. We unloaded and then I went to Wal-Mart to stock the refrigerator. What a joke, there must have been every snowbird here shopping. I was totally wiped out when I got home. No watermelon, no cantaloupe and the worst meat ever. Guess I will go to Publix tomorrow. I was just too pooped to do it today.
Tonight we went to the pool and hot tub.Bud's appointment is on Wednesday so we have a few days to play. It was hot here today. Our thermometer read 106 on the driveway. That's a little too warm, even for me. Tonight it was beautiful...

Busy, Busy Week

I have been neglecting my blogging because I had too many things going. First and most important was we had a Friday morning appointment with the doctor for Bud's back. So we left for Coldwater Michigan for our motorhome rally on Wednesday and figured we would just get up early and run back to Toledo with the car and see the doctor. Well, they called Thursday afternoon and cancelled his appointment and wouldn't reschedule it again for another week. So we have made the decision to go to Florida and have the surgery done there. I called the doctor that did his knee and he highly reccommended a Dr. Hill, a neurosurgeon in Leesburg. I checked him out and he comes with lots of degrees and experience. If we stay here it will be another month before he can even have surgery, I don't understand that they don't care about the pain. Just tough it out....
We had a great time in Coldwater and went to the new casino in Battle Creek. I should have stayed home. I am sure in a slump when it comes to casinos.
We also went to the Coldwater Applefest.
On Sunday we attended Dakota's fifth birthday bash. They got a bouncy house and a spiderman pinata for all his little friends. It was also Rob's birthday and he got a few presents too. For a minute there we thought that maybe, just maybe the Detroit Lions would win a game and give him a real present but that wasn't to be. Maybe next year....
Bob and Ruth came home with us and are parked in the backyard in their motorhome. We are trying to tie up the lose ends around here and get the Jeep packed. We will problably leave on Thursday.
It was so nice to see all my kids and grandkids in one spot. I even got to see Megan. It would be great if they could come to Florida to see their parents.....

Beautiful Weekend in Michigan

It was a delightful weekend here in Michigan. Bud's leg is still hurting but he won't sit still too long. He can't stand to just sit and watch TV. On Saturday we did sit and watch golf and football. Our good friends from the motorhome group called and they drove down from Holly Michigan to go to Cabela's so they called and we met them at Lone Star in Dundee. Pat and Gary are two of my favorites and Gary said he just couldn't be that close without calling. I thank God every day for all of our friends.
On Sunday Bud went to the Park & Shine car show at Power Train in Toledo with Steve. Bud drove the Gremlin and Steve took the Mustang. I got up really early and made them a nice breakfast. I spent the day at Pam's and we went shopping. We also went and saw JoJo cheerlead for the football game at Greenwood School. She did a fine job. In the afternoon Bud stopped over there and we all went to PF Chang's restaurant for dinner. Dave does not like Chinese food and would never go before but we talked him into it. It was very, very good. Dave even liked it.
Today I spent the whole cooking. I made Swiss steak for supper and I made a roster full of cabbage rolls to take camping. I had every pot I own dirty. Oh well, I have to empty that freezer because Steve won't cook anything while we are gone.
It was truly a beautiful weekend, Michigan won, Tiger won, and we ate really good.

Hearniated Disc-He's In Pain

Bud has been diagnosed with a herniated disk in his lower back. Right now they gave him steroids and we have to go back to the surgeon in a week. Do you have surgery or do you wait it out or do you go to the chiropractor? You certainly don't want permanent damage. In all the years we have been married he has never been sick so this is really strange to us. We wanted to leave soon for Florida but do we do it here or wait and do it down in Florida. That is a much better place to recover but are the doctors as good. What to do?
We also have a big project ahead of us and he can't do it with a sore back. Luckily we will have help but he wanted the money so we can buy a new golf cart. I read this somewhere and the quote goes. "Do you know what God does when you make plans? He laughs." That is the story of our lives, everyday it is something new.

First Day of School

Today was Dakota's first day of school. He will be attending Young Fives and he will go all day. He passed the test for kindergarden but then he would have been the youngest in his class and it won't hurt to start him next year. He called last night and told me how excited he was to go to big boy school. It is funny how things have changed over the years. I don't believe my dad even knew what school we went to and Bud would have never even thought of taking time off to take my kids to school. It just wasn't done back then. If a man had a job, he went to work, barring an emergency. Rob went in late to walk Dakota to school, that is so nice that he is able and wants to do that kind of things with his son. Dakota is lucky to have good parents.
I spent the day doing errands, making phone calls and playing with my Skype. It rained most of the day so I made homemade vegetable soup. It was excellent if I do say so myself. So now we have to eat it for at least three more days.

It is a Beautiful Weekend in Michigan

I just have to say it is a beautiful weekend here in Michigan. The weather doesn't get much better than this.
I spent two days helping Pam with another garage sale, the rest is going to the Goodwill.
Today we just kind of vegged out. Bud hooked up my new computer camera and I downloaded Skype. Pam did it also and we spent the afternoon playing scrabble and talking like we were in the same room. I just love technology. Last night Dakota was here and we talked to my friend in The Villages. She got a kick out of seeing him in person. He had his Spiderman costume on, a gift from the daycare. He loves Spiderman.
Tomorrow we are suppose to go the Labor Day Parade in Toledo. The rest of the day is open. Bud's leg still hurts, I hope he holds out until Wednesday.

Bud Goes For MRI

Bud had a MRI done on his back. He is still in pain and we can't see the doctor until September 9th. The pain is not as bad as it was and he insists on keeping moving. Today we power washed the side of the house. We are trying to get these things done before we go to Florida. Having two houses is a lot of work, we never get done that is for sure.
It has been very cool here at night and early in the morning, it feels like fall all ready. The days however have been gorgeous. Perfect days to do work around the house.
I made bruscetta for dinner tonight and it was very good. Ever since I saw the movie, "Julie and Julia" I just want to cook. The food in that movie was wonderful. All the recipes are on the internet so I will just keep plugging away.

Visiting Amish Country

Pam, Dave, me and Bud visited our friends from the Villages, Pam and Rod in their winter home in Mansfield Ohio. They have an apartment in their sons home in the basemant of his 3900 square foot brick house. The apartment in so nice, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, laundry room. The house upstairs was fantastic. It was probably the nicest house I have ever been in. The bathroom (one of six) was bigger than our living room. Oh well, it is nice to see how the other half lives
Pam and Rod took all over Amish country. We went to an Amish store like Lowe's only there is no comparision. This one has oak woodwork, etc. It was so nice. Then we went to an Amish hardware that went on forever. You can find things there you can't find anywhere else. We also went to Wooster, Ohio to the Rubbermaid outlet and bought a few things. I never knew Rubbermaid made so many different things.
We ate, and we ate and played Mexican Train until it was quite late. We made lots of noise with all of our kidding and laughing. We always have such a great time when we all get together.
We were really quite a group this weekend. Bud has a sore leg, Dave has a sore hip, Pam is recovering from walking pnenmonia, Rod was taking a sulfur drug that gave him an allergic reaction and compromised his liver so he had been very sick. Maybe we had so much fun because everyone was on pain medicine.
Pam's son Jason rolled his pickup truck and totaled in on I-475. It is a wonder he didn't get killed or kill someone else. The angels must have been watching out for him.
All in all it was a wonderful weekend.

Bud Has a Sore Leg

This week has not been too exciting.Bus has a sore leg, his muscle in his right leg from his butt to his ankle hurts so our family doctor gave him some anti inflamatory drug. Not doing the trick at all so I got him a prescrption for some stronger pain pills. Not doing the trick so I spent all day trying to get him an orthopedic appointment. If you go to the emergency room, they look at you and tell you, you need to see an orthopedic doctor. We have an appointment for 7:45 in the morning. It took six phone calls and all day to finally get someone to call me back. I am glad I didn't have to have my blood pressure taken today, it would be off the chart. So I hope they can do something tomorrow as we are leaving for the weekend to go to Amish Country and spend a few days at our friends from the Villages in southern Ohio. It has been raining for two days here also so that hasn't helped my diposition.
Rob and Jenny got a new dog, named Cody. He is so cute. It makes me want a dog and I know Bud wants one but we are not home long enough. I guess we'll just have to go visit Cody and get it out of our system.

Julia & Julie-The Movie

Both Bud and Dave had sore legs yesterday so we decided to go to the movies. Me and Pam went to see Julia and Julie and Bud and Dave went to see the Brad Pitt movie, I can't remember the name (it is weird).
Well, we made a good choice. It was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. It was happy and sad and sometimes funny, esp. if you can remember the Julia Child cooking show on TV. Myerl Streep did an outstanding job, sometimes you really thought Julia was on the screen. I bet she gets an Academy Award..
It has been cool for a few days but I hear it is suppose to be warmer towards the end of the week.
Today I went for my last doctor's appointment, I hope. I have been checked from stem to stern. I had a bone density, mammogram and pap test. I have been to the regular doctor for all my tests, had my eyes tested and my teeth fixed and that took about six appointments. So I am done for the year.
Well as Julia would say "Bon Apetit". I don't know how to spell it but you get my drift...

The New Roof Is Done

They finished the roof today. It looks real good and they cleaned up all their mess and were done in two days. There was no way Bud could have done that with his knee, his leg muscles is still pulling. I think he should go back to the doctor but what do I know...
Our Red Hats went to the movies yesterday. We saw "The Time Traveler's Wife". It was stupid, boring and dull. That is the last time I am letting Pam pick the movie. I told her she owed me $4.50. If I had been home watching it I would have been sleeping for sure. We then all went to Steak and Shake and Pam had a Butterfinger Shake, Oh,my!!!I just had a taste and it was wonderful. If I would have had a whole one they would have had to call the paramedics for me. I just can't eat ice cream anymore.

Camping in Michigan's Thumb Area

We camped in Sebewaing at Bay Shore Family Campground. It was a very, very nice place with lots of shade and nice beautiful buildings to eat and play cards in. The nearby town Caseville had a Cheeseburger Festival and the people were wall-to-wall and so was the traffic.
There were 46 motorhomes attending and 36 of us played Beanbag Baseball. It was a hoot. We were yelling and doing the wave and cheering on our teams. I am sure we will be playing that again.
The weather was warm but it was a wonderful weekend with our camping family. On Sunday our whole family got together at Rob's for a little dinner. We ordered pizza and the kids played. It is so hard to get everyone together, you'd think we lived a hundred miles away from each other. We sat in Rob's Man Cave,(his garage) and watched Tiger Woods lose the golf tournament. I really wanted him to win. We just sat and talked and laughed, especially at Dakota. His batteried were fully charged.
Today the guy came and brought all the tools to put the new roof on, he is suppose to start tomorrow. Of course, it is suppose to rain so we shall see.
It was very warm and muggy here today so we didn't do too much....

Getting Ready to go Camping

Spent the last few days doing laundry and trying to get ready to go camping for the weekend. There always seems like there is so much to do. I put the insurance on the motorhome, got license plates, bought groceries, made a salad to take and packed our clothes. I really have it down to a science by now as we have been doing this for fifteen years with our club but it is still a lot of work.
We are going up pass Bay City to a little town call Seabring. We are meeting Ralph and Arlene at Sam's at 10:30 in the morning.
Today we went to Levis Commons with Pam and Dave and had a late lunch at Bob Evans, Pam picked. We also went to look at new golf carts. That is number one on my agenda when we get to Florida. Our golf cart is nice but it is a real dog, no speed at all. I want one that moves.....

It is a Hot One Today

Well, today is one of the hottest days of the year here. Bob and Ruth had to leave early as their neighbor called and said the electric was off at their house and their basement was flooding. They had five inches of rain. So after they left I went to Pam's to go swimming and we played on the computer for awhile also. It is nice and cool at their house, unlike ours.
When I got home the roofer had been here and he will start next week on the roof. I forgot to put in this blog that I went to Soaring Eagle when we went to Houghton Lake, I guess I was trying to forget. We hit the coldest machines I have ever come across. We were there about one hour, spent all the money we brought to spend and didn't hit one time. I won't be going back there for a long time.
Today I just stayed home and did laundry and cleaned up and threw stuff away again. We are like Sanford and Sons,it really drags me down. The more I throw away the more there is to throw away. I need to put this house on TV.....

Three Days At Houghton Lake

Pam, Bud and I spent three days at Houghton Lake. We went out to dinner at Shaker's and had wonderful Broasted Chicken. The next day it was too cold and windy to take the pontoon out so Bud just did repairs for Sandy and we just went shopping. It has been a very cool summer up north and even the farmers are saying their crops are just not growing. We went to the neighbors bonfire and watched a movie called "Obsession". It was good but not as good as "Fatal Attraction". We took a very long boat ride on Thursday and the weather was gorgeous. But then we had to leave as both of us had doctor's appointments on Friday morning. When me and Pam walked into the garage when we got home, she said, "Do you hear that buzzing?" I said maybe something was left on so we looked around and bees had made a nest on the garage wall, right through the wall from the outside. There were thousands of bees in there.
Bob and Ruth were in our backyard by then and he came and helped Bud spray them. There were bees everywhere. We sprayed again before we went to bed and today Bud removed the wall and got rid of the hive and all the eggs. Now that wasn't there when we left so in three days they did all that. Sometimes I am afraid to go away, every time we get home it is something new.
On Friday night I made dinner for Bob and Ruth and we played Mexican Train. Today we got up to rain and it rained all day.
Tonight we just stayed home and I made a Rachel Ray recipe I saw her make on television. It was pretty good. I would change a few things if I ever make it again. Tomorrow it is suppose to be ninety six degrees. We have went from having to wear our winter clothes to our bathing suits in five days. Welcome to Michigan......

Golfing at Giant Oak

Me, Bud, Pam and Dave went golfing today at Giant Oak. Dave didn't golf, just rode in the golf cart. Bud did exceptionally well today. I did okay on a few shots, I need lots more practice. But it was a beautiful day and we had a good time.
In the evening Pam and me went to our Red Hat Birthday Bash at Steak and Shake. We made lots of noise and made plans for the upcoming months. This Red Hat group is so active. They go somewhere about every week.
Well, got to run and pack for a short vacation to Houghton Lake. Sure hope we can go to Mt. Pleasant, haven't been there all year.

The Taylor's 50th Anniversary Party

ON Friday we headed for Clio Michigan to spend the weekend with Don and Twyla. We had to wait for the roof guy to come and give us an estimate. It was high, as usual. We left around eleven and had an early dinner. After dinner we went to the show to see "Funny People". Thank goodness we had free passes. It was terrible. Lots of vulgar situations and language. Now I am not a prude but with that story they could have made a good movie. It had a few laughs but I wouldn't even pay to rent it for $1at Walmart. On Saturday we ate breakfast and then spent the morning cooking lunch for Sandy and Bob and Ruth. When you go to Twyla's you never go away hungry. She is not satisfied to have just a few things, she has twenty. I ate my way through this entire weekend. The Taylor's party was at a church in Chessaning and they exchanged their vows. Everyone but one of the original wedding party was there. She even had her wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses on display. We had a nice dinner and visited with lots of Knights and some of her family that we know. They are two of the nicest people in our motorhome family. They had a video with old pictures from events we have attended and it sure brought back lots of memories. There was a great picture of Ed that brought tears to our eyes. Bud spent Saturday morning helping Don with some things he is not able to do anymore. It just makes you want to cry...He really doesn't have the abilty to do anything.
Of course, Twyla sent us home with enough food to fix for our dinner. Then we just vegged out the rest of the day...

Company from The Villages

Jim and Jane were here for two days in their motorhome in our backyard. They have a new dog named Walter. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen. It is a cross between a Yorkie and and a Shitso and will only get about six pounds. It looked like a stuffed beanie baby.
We had a real nice time, we went to Pam's for a picnic and played cornhole. We went and got the first really good sweetcorn of the season. I was in hog heaven...I love my sweetcorn.
Jim liked all the barns and cars we have around here. We went out for pizza last night and they left today. They will stop at Pam and Rod's on their way to Pidgeon Forge.
So I didn't do much today. Just rested and will do my running around tomorrow.

Babysitting Dakota

I spent most of the day with Dakota today. He is such a cute kid with energy to spare. I took him to Carr Park and he made friends right away with a little girl and they had a ball on all of things that the park has to offer. Playgrounds sure are different from when I was a kid. We had a few swings and a teeter-totter on cement and if you fell off, well, oh well. You ended up crying or getting stitches. Now all the equipment is on wood chips about a foot deep. You sink in when you walk. Everything is made of plastic and there was at least one parent for every kid there. My mom would send us to the park and we would be gone all day. She never even checked on us. Just be home for dinner. It is a different world today.
We went shopping and then to Pam's and Dakota beat Pam bowling on the WII game. It is pretty sad when you can't beat a four year old.
I have to go to the dentist first thing in the morning. I sure dread that. Jim and Jane from the Villages should be here around noon. It will be so good to see them.

The Parlour in Jackson Michigan

On Tuesday we went to Toledo to get a part for Bud's router, went to see the in-laws, and dropped off a pillow for Dave to keep his leg up on.
Tuesday evening Pam and Dave came for dinner and I made pork chops, they were delicious. Then Dave got the bright idea to go to Jackson to get ice cream. It is a fifty-eight mile ride from our house, so Bud programmed the GPS and off we went. A GPS only works if you follow the directions but Bud didn't so we got lost. But we finally got there. Their ice cream is so big and good. I couldn't possibly eat one but Bud and Dave did.It is such a cute place and just a fun evening. Everyone should go there at least once...
Today me and Pam went to Jennifer's house to see our great niece Lauren. She was born premature while we were in Florida and had to stay in the hospital a long time. Today she was so cute and smiling. It makes me feel so sad that my little sister is missing out on her grandchild. She would love that baby. I am so glad we went to see her before she got too big.
It is raining today and kind of crappy outside. Steve and his friends went to the Mud Hens game, hope it didn't get rained out. Television is terrible tonight and now the President is going to be on. They will tell you a hundred times tomorrow what he said so you really don't have to watch. I just wish he could get this economy going, today when I had my nails done, there are six empty storefronts in that plaza. When will it end....

Pam & Rod

Pam and Rod came on Saturday afternoon. It was so good to see them. We went to Brenda's to eat and then to Pam and Dave's to play Mexican Train. Then our brother-in-law Chuck came to visit for a while and then Jason, Jessica and the kids came so our Mexican Train game had to be put on hold. We went outside and played Corn-Hole. We had fun but what really was fun was watching JoJo do her card magic tricks. She did it for me at the hospital and fooled me and she fooled both Pam and Rod. We had lots of laughs over that. I thought they were staying until Monday morning but they had to get home to baby-sit so when we got home Bud and I made our pecans rolls and breakfast casserole at midnight so it would be ready in the morning. I got up early to turn the oven on and I got dizzy and was throwing up. That did me in for the rest of the day. Pam and Dave came over to help get the breakfast going and I laid in my chair. Bud and Rod worked on a wood project in the barn and I laid in my chair, afraid to move my head. Pam watched movies and I laid in my chair. By late afternoon I could move so we went to Bill's birthday party but I wasn't much fun. I sat in my chair. They have a lovely house on the east side of Toledo and Bill has his garage filled to the brim with projects. He is a tinkerer like Bud. He got lots of nice gifts, the food was good but I was way out of it. That medicine just does me in. Today I slept until about 10:30, almost unheard of for me. I just laid around most of the day, I can hardly move. Anna was here and we visited for awhile. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow. I think right now some sherbet might make me feel better. What do you think? I finished my book by Debbie Macomber. It is a series about a woman that owns a yarn shop. It is the third or fourth book and I really enjoyed it. Just a good woman's book.

Busy Getting Ready For Company

I have been trying to get things ready for Rod and Pam to come and visit. They will be here tomorrow. Last night we went to meet a lot of our camping friends that are going to a big rally in Bowling Green Ohio. We begged off, we have been to Bowling Green many times and it was just too expensive. We had dinner with Pat and Gary Graves and Glen and Karen Perkin.
Today Bud had to fix my car. The air conditioner wouldn't work and I was so afraid it would be the entire thing again. We put $1200.00 dollars in it two years ago and I sure was not prepared to do that again. But he played around with it, found out it only needed a relay switch and fixed it for seven dollars. I know I am very blessed that he can fix most everything. If not we would be in a heap of trouble.....
I have been scrapbooking tonight and playing Scrabble with Pam. I keep beating her and everynight she wants to play again. We should be playing for money...

My Brother-In-Law Had His Surgery

I spent the day with Pam, Jason, Jessica and the kids at St. Ann's Hospital. Dave had his hip surgery and they scraped his hip and took off the bone spurs, etc. He wasn't feeling too good when he woke up from surgery. He was freezing cold and shivering and in pain. They gave him a really warm blanet and some morphine so we left so he could go back to sleep. Jason's kids were there the whole time and they were wonderful. If everyone's kids acted like that there would be a million more kids running around. They are delightful to be around.
We went to lunch and then I came home.
Today I went grocery shopping and then went to Pam's to check on Dave. He was walking a little with his crutches and still in pain. They gave him Perocets and then he went to bed.
Tonight we just played on the computer, finished my book, cleaned up the kitchen and did a scrapbooking page. Can't wait until our company from the Villages come this weekend.
Steve, Anna, Scott, Evelyn and Matt are leaving in the morning for St. Louis to attend an AMC Car Show. They are hauling their cars, I sure hope they have a good time and good weather.

More Garage Sales & Golf

We had our last day of the garage sale on Friday. It was pretty slow and no excitment like on Thursday. On Saturday morning, Pam, Dave, me and Bud went golfing at Giant Oak in Temperance, Michigan. It is a real nice golf course, I have been driving pass it for years but it is just off the road so you can't see it. It was the nicest golf course so far that we have tried. We had a coupon so that was even better. Then we went to Brenda's to eat a early dinner. It is on the corner of M-151 and Lewis Avenue. They had the best broasted chicken. Everyone was very pleased with their food so I know we will return. I figured they had to have good food or they would have closed by now. It is not the best location in the world.
Today I worked around here, keeping the garbage man busy by throwing things away. We had an estimate for our new roof. He quoted us around $17,000. I almost laughed in his face. When he left Bud said he had better get his knee pads and the nail gun out. That is almost what we paid to have this house built. I realize things have went up but that is totally out of line.
Evelyn and Matt and Harly were over this afternoon. Megan turned eighteen this weekend, boy do I feel old.....

My Life of Golfing and Garage Sales

We made plans to go golfing at Giant Oak Golf Course and of course Pam told Bill and Eva to go to Maple Grove Golf Course. So when no one showed up we called them and they said they were at Maple Grove so even though we had already paid we hauled ass over to Maple Grove to play there. We didn't golf that well but had a good time. From now on I will make the phone calls and arrange things.
On Thursday we had Pam's garage sale. Watching the people is so much fun and she sure had some characters. One lady in particular was extremely interesting. First of all she was kind of dirty, was smelly and had no teeth. Now you can't tell a book by its cover. I could have swore she drove an old beater. Guess what,Her and her husband were driving a hummer. She asked the prices of everything, asked us to hold some things for her until she went to the bank and brought back her husband. So after a while here they come to pick up her things and her husband backs the hummer into another car, she goes berserk and starts yelling at him. He comes in the back yard and wants to use the restroom so I had to go into the house and watch him, all of our purses, etc were in there. Jason and Jessica help them load their things and they go. Pretty soon they are back and he comes in the back yard and says, "You tore my leather seats". Boy oh Jess got her back up and said,"We never touched your seats". He backed right down and left.(Hopefully for good). We had people with purple hair, tattoos, piercings,Michael Jackson hats, no teeth, dirty and then we had a family that looked like they could have been on a magazine cover. Oh well, it sure made the day by fast. Tomorrow is another day...I sure hope I can sell that bread maker.
It is suppose to be hot tomorrow so I am taking my suit.

Happy Fourth of July

We spent Fourth of July at Pam's house this year again. All my kids went their separate ways, parties at the pond, camping in Traverse City and Steve was camping with his firemen friends. Eva,Bill,Dave and Pam and me and Bud enjoyed a wonderful steak roast and then we played a rousing game of Mexican Train until it was time to go see the fireworks. We went to Jessica's mom's house in Luna Pier right on Lake Erie. The city of Luna Pier put on the fireworks show but the neighbors were having a contest to see which one of them had the best display also. Boy, those people must have spent thousands of dollars. It was fun, really loud and beautiful but I think they have more money than brains. I can't imagine, even if I had it, which I don't, spending that much money on fireworks. Oh well, we enjoyed it and it didn't cost us anything. I have always wanted to live on a lake. I don't suppose that will ever happen.

Went Golfing Today

Bud,Pam and I went golfing today at Maple Grove on Secor Rd. It has a nine hole executive course and on Thursdays they only charge five dollars. It was okay, cetainly not the Villages but not too bad. I even got a par on the fourth hole. After that we visited Bud's dad for a while and then went to Pam's and had pizza. It was on the cool side today, a good golfing day. Now I think I will work on my scrapbooking for a while and then read.

Wonderful Motorhome Rally

We went camping with our motorhome group on Wednesday at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. We had sixty motorhomes attending and we were in charge and it was hot, African hot.... Don and Twyla came to spend a few days with us in our motorhome so they could go the baseball game. I got 51 tickets and we all caravaned to Meijers in Toledo and the bus picked us up and took us downtown. The Toledo Mud Hen Stadium is beautiful. Just before we left the fairgrounds we had a bad storm, rain, hail, wind and a tornado warning. But as soon as the warning was over we piled into cars to head to Toledo. We sure don't let a little thing like a tornado stop us. It rained all the way down and I thought for sure there would be no game. We sat there and watched them cover the field, uncover the field, cover the field, uncover the field and by 8:40 they finally started the 7 p.m. game. We had the best seats in the house and we all had a great time.
On Friday the guys golfed eighteen holes at Carrington Woods and the ladies went to Red Hats. On Saturday some of us went to the Flat Rock Speedway and watched the figure eight races.
By the time Sunday came I was totally wiped out. We cleaned up the campground, loaded up and came home. It was one long week...
We came home to a few problems, the dishwasher was not working properly, the microwave died, there is a mouse in the kitchen and ants by my computer. So Bud fixed the dishwasher, we got a new over the stove microwave, we caught the mouse and I am still working on the ants. There is not one thing that would attract those small sugar ants by my computer so I am cleaning and spraying and going nuts.
Now I am going to go and watch TV and rest.

Father's Day & A Busy Monday

All the boys showed up for Father's Day to see their Dad. Rob took Bud golfing on Thursday, he got a gift certificate from Scott and Steve bought pizza for supper for us. Dakota made Bud the cutest card. We sure have nice kids...
Today I had to go to the dentist, get my nails done, get license plates on motorhome,go to insurance office, ordered all the breakfast sandwiches for the rally and paid for 51 tickets to the Mud Hens. Bob and Ruth are camped in our back yard so I fixed dinner for everyone. Then we played Mexican Train. I am truly pooped. It is time for me to go to bed. Tomorrow is another day...

Friday Night on Lake Erie

We went with Pam, Dave, Eva and Bill and some of their friends from the Edison for a night out at a restaurant on Lake Erie. We hadn't been to this place in years but years ago it was a very nice place. Well, we got there and followed the signs to the restaurant upstairs overlooking the lake. A person came out and said, "The restaurant is closed but the bar downstairs is open." So we went to the bar to wait for the other people. Now I am not an uppity woman but oh my God, it was nasty. It had a cement floor and the toilets were porta-johns outside. To make matters worse everything was covered with mayflies, which to some of you that don't know what they are, they are big flying insects that only live for one day and at a certain time of year they cover everything by the lake. The mayflies are proof that Lake Erie is alive and well but they are a big nuisance. They get so thick on the streets that sometimes they have to use snowplows to remove them. They only last a week or two but I don't like bugs. The waitress came over and asked us if we wanted to eat and that they had some steaks they could thaw out. UGH....I don't think so...
Needless to say we left there and went to really nice place across from Pearson Park. I had an excellent fillet and Bud had walleye. It sure is a shame that the restaurant on the lake just couldn't make a go of it. There was also a house that has the mean lean there. We took some pictures, I don't know what happened to make it collapse in the canal. At first we thought that was the restaurant. Ha Ha...But we had a nice evening regardless of few problems.

Lazy Days

Today was just one of those days when you don't feel like doing anything. Rob took Bud golfing for Father's Day and then we went to Toledo to take Bud's dad a pie for Father's Day. We stopped at Sautter's in Sylvania and I finally found my slider buns for the small hamburgers like they have in restaurants. They even had the small hamburgers all made up. They were really good.
I have sold 47 tickets to the Mud Hens game next Thursday night so we will almost fill a bus all by ourselves. I sure hope the weather holds and the people all have a good time.We will be catching the bus at the Meijer's store on Alexis Rd. so we can park all of our cars there. I have three tickets left if anyone is interested.
Tomorrow I have to get busy and do somethings around here. No more lazy days for me...

Megan's Graduation Party

Megan had her graduation party today and it was a huge success. Lots of people, food and fun. We had lots of laughs and got to see family and friends we hadn't seen in a long time. The weather was beautiful and Scott and Evelyn have their house fixed up really nice. The log siding looks wonderful.
But it was a long day and I am tired. Played two games of scrabble with Pam and whipped her butt again today. That makes four in a row.

Garage Sale Days

Having a garage sale is alot of work. But I got rid of all my paper scrapbooking supplies, lots of junk that I didn't need and the rest is being donated to a little boy to sell to raise money to go to scout camp. I just want it out of here.
You would be surprised at what people buy, they pass up the real nice things and buy the junk. Oh well, now I will help Pam with her sale. I might even find some more items to sell.We had great weather for a sale. But we sure didn't have the shoppers that we usually have.
I just checked on the Monroe County Fair Schedule for this year and I don't see any name entertainment. I didn't see any at the Adrian County Fair either. I know the economy is bad but they have always had great entertainers.
Tomorrow is Megan's party so we will see folks we haven't seen in awhile. Scott and Evelyn have the perfect party house, big deck and yard and the weather is suppose to be great.
Well, I am tired and Bud is watching reruns of NCIS again, and again, and again. Oh happy day....

Rain Again Today

Well, it was cloudy and rainy again today. So we used the day to go get supplies for the food I have to cook for Megan's party. We also went to see the inlaws. They sure are getting along good for being 87 years old. We should all be so lucky.
Tomorrow is garage sale day so we have to get up early, get our signs out and put stuff outside if it ever quits raining. It is suppose to be nice and sunny however, for two whole days.
Jean and Jerry Wessel stopped over to look at our garage sale items, sold our first five dollars worth, yeahh...
Pam and I just played scrabble. She beat me twice, I had terrible letters.
Well, got to go to bed early tonight...

A Lazy Day

It was just a lazy day here at the Kohn house. I am recovering from my tooth removal so I just kind of laid around and read, played on the computer and cooked. I don't know why I cooked, I can't eat much.
Bud just stayed in the house today too and worked on his jigsaw puzzle. If I would have known it would have kept him so occupied I would have gotten it out earlier. It has been in the cupboard unopened for years...It is fifteen hundred pieces so it is going to take him awhile.
Tonight I will just work on my scrapbooking pages and play scrabble with Pam and Dave on the computer. Dave did pretty well for his first time, I think we have created a monster...

Went to Dentist Today

Went to the dentist today, had to have two teeth pulled, old root canals that had broken off up in my gums. Oh happy day, it wasn't too pleasant at all. Now I have to have three more pulled and a permanent bridge put in or I will have to resort to granny teeth and I am way too young for that. So I can't eat too many things for about six or eight weeks. I better stock up on some soup..I had to get it done as Chrysler has cut off our dental insurance as of July 1. Everyday we go deeper in the dumpster.
I worked on my garage sale this morning but now I have taken a Vicodan and it puts me to sleep so I am on my way to the couch...

Golf at Cottonwood in Sylvania

Worked on my garage sale stuff again today. I sure hope it doesn't rain.
We golfed today at Cottonwood in Sylvania. It was a nice course and we had a good time. I didn't do very well but at least I am trying. I did however get over the water and that is a plus.
We went out to eat at City Barbeque on Central. It was very good and very filling. Good ribs, chicken and corn pudding.
By the time we ate I was exahusted, I felt my whole body shut down, I needed a nap in the worse way. So both of us came home and crashed. TV is terrible. We have 102 stations and not a thing on any of them.
I played three games of scrabble with Pam and I did as well there as I did on the golf course but at least it didn't cost me any money.

A Beautiful Saturday in Michigan-Finally

It was beautiful here today, not too warm but nice and sunny. I spent the morning getting ready for my garage sale. I sure hope I have some customers.
This afternoon we met Pam, Dave and Eva and Bill and had dinner at the Olive Garden. You can tell the economy is bad, no waiting for six people. The dinner was excellent. Then we went to a party at some guy that Dave and Bill know from Toledo Edison. He lives in the Old West End and his house is awesome. They don't built houses like that anymore.
Tomorrow we are all going golfing, can't wait...

I Am Back

Well, I am back from Florida again. We flew down to do Pam's plumbing and Bud worked very hard to get it done. He worked and me and Pam played. I mean we did all the running to Lowe's for pipe and appliances but in between we hit it hard. We went to the square, to the pool, gambling, played Mexican Train, had birthday parties, ate out, went to digital scrapbooking, Michigan Club, Ohio Club, visited with the neighbors and drank pina coladas. I wore her out. My friends had us over for dinners and just were wonderful. She loved it.
Our dear neighbor passed away from a brain tumor on Saturday. He was a peach and will be missed by all.
Our other neighbors let us use their Lincoln Towne Car while we were there. I could get used to that very easyly.
Megan graduated this Sunday so we attended that. She only had 34 students in her class so to make it last longer they showed a power point presentation of each kid from when they were little to the present. It was cute. I sure hope she goes to college now.
Today and yesterday I worked on my garage sale stuff. Boy do I have the junk. Jen and Dakota came and helped and we really hauled out the stuff. Now if I can just sell it. One thing I know for sure, it is not coming back in....

Mother's Day

I spent the week cleaning drawers, etc. You cannot believe all stuff we have thrown out. On Saturday we were going to go to the driving range but it was just too windy and cold. On Sunday the sun was shining but it was cool. Me and Pam went to Lowe's to look at kitchen cupboards. It was the first Mother's Day I haven't worked in ten years. It felt kind of funny. Evelyn and Matt came over and brought me a Penny's gift certificate and Rob and Jen and Dakota came and brought a big hanging flower pot. Steve got me a GPS for my car. Now he can't tell me to get lost....
Today I did some more drawers and then went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. Then Pam and I went golfing again at Cherrywood Golf Course. It is way too hard for me so I don't think I will go back there. I need to find me a little par three course to practice on. I hit a few good balls but way too few, if you know what I mean. There is a freeze warning out tonight so we are going out to cover up our plants. Doesn't anyone know this is May....

It's Been A While

It has been awhile since I have posted. At night it is so cold in this house I just cover up with my blankie and keep warm. I must still have my Florida blood.
Let's see if I can remember some of the things I have been doing. Pam and I went to Anderson's on Sunday and shopped. Bud went to a car show with all the boys. On Monday night Pam and I joined a women's golf league. We were definely the worst ones but we had a good time. One of the women with us got a hole in one. Can you believe that? But the girls seem nice and the owners of the golf course were nice also. It is a nine hole course called Cherrywood in Ottawa Lake. It only has two par threes though so it is a little challanging for us.
Bud and I planted flowers all day. We planted my favorite, wave patunias, pink and purple. I also got my new printer today. It works just fine. Now I can scrap to my hearts content.
Tonight Pam, Linda and I went to Bingo in Toledo. I won $50.00. That made my day. Now I can buy some paper for my printer.
We went and took pictures of Megan for her senior prom. She is a beauty, with a body to match. She really looked nice.
Well, it is late and I am ready to hit the hay....

It is Raining Again

Got up this morning to rain again. Since it is raining it is a good day to go shopping at our favorite store,Lowes. We stopped at Pam's and had lunch, went to Office Max, Lowes, and then to visit the in-laws.
Bud has lots of projects to do and so do I, one drawer at a time. Getting ready for a garage sale is alot of work. If it goes in the sale it is not coming back in this house. Bud even went up in the attic, it is full also. We haven't even looked at that stuff in ten years so I guess we don't need it. It boggles the mind at all the stuff we have accumulated in forty-two years.
Well, got some computer work to do.

On the Road Again

Well, we were home for a few days and then we decided to attend our first motorhome rally in Fowlerville, Michigan. It was a beautiful day on Thursday, Friday and then Friday night late it rained, Saturday night it rained and on Sunday when we left we needed a tractor to pull the motorhome out of the mud. Oh happy day!!! The guys that had the tractor said "You people really know how to have fun."
It was so good to see our friends, it was like we never left, we just pick up where we left off. There were fifty-two motorhomes there and I think that is great considering the economy here in Michigan. Some folks never even went home yet, just came home to Michigan from Florida and Texas, etc. and stopped at the rally while the motorhome was already packed and spent the weekend. We had a really fun evening at Bob and Ruth's motorhome watching the video of Bill and Jenny's mock wedding. I can't believe that was in 1994. It was fun to see how the people have changed.
Today when I got home we just kind of laid around and I started reading a new book. I kind of hated to put it down to write this but I wanted to check my email.
We won't be camping now until our rally in June.

It's Cold and Raining Again

Well, I know we came home way too soon. I was getting pretty use to sunshine everyday and it is just not happening here.
I spent the morning covered up on the couch until Bud got a fire going in the woodburner. Do you beleeve that?
The rest of the day I spent shredding papers that had accumulated over the winter. I am so far behind in this house I will never catch up.
I made meatloaf for dinner and played on the computer. It has not been an exciting day.....

We're Home

We are home in Michigan now and it sure was good to see my grandkids and kids. The trip home was uneventful and that is a good thing. We got home on Saturday night about ten thirty.
On Sunday it rained. On Monday it has rained all day. Ugh...I am not a happy camper.
I saw my inlaws today and they are doing remarkably well. I went to Pam's for a while tonight and we played brain games on the computer. They are suppose to help your brain and I need all the help I can get.
Went to Bob Evans today to see if they have any openings on the schedule. It doesn't look too good. She has already cut the other people's hours so as soon as business picks up she might need me. Oh well, I can't work if they don't need anyone. The economy here in Michigan stinks.I will have a lot of time to get ready for my garage sale, I have to get rid of this stuff. If I have not missed it in in six months I guess I really don't need it....It is suppose to rain again tomorrow or snow if the temperature drops. I came home to this, I must be crazy....

Our Last Days Here

We have been packing and trying to get things together to go home. The weather has been beautiful and I sure hate to leave.
Wednesday night we got a group together and went to Margaritavill's in Spanish Springs. We had a real nice time, eating, dancing, and listening to karaoke. Dunning Shaw was there and he is great. He can sing anything. It was so nice to have all my friends around me. I really enjoy all the people I have met here. We are all planning to meet this summer up north, etc. So maybe I will get to see some of them..
Tonight Pam and Rod had us over for a big turkey dinner. It was mighty good..We had a lots of laughs and we were planning for next year. It will be the year of the "Central Florida Day Trips". I sure am going to miss them..
Just before we left Pam's renters called and said they heard water running and the kitchen floor was squishy. So Bud went down there and turned the water off. "Duh" You would thing they would have known to do that before the kitchen floor was ruined..We can't do anything tonight but we'll have to get a plumber tomorrow. We were planning on leaving early but now I don't think that will happen..

Happy Easter Everyone

I worked Easter Day [MY LAST DAY] and it was busy really early and then kind of died off. Of course, it was beautiful outside and lots of other restaurants had buffets. When I got home we headed to Bill and Eva's to have Easter dinner. She cooked a great meal and we met another nice couple named Leo and Wanda from New Hampshire. Bill met them at the Gold Wing Club. Then we all went golfing at Roosevelt Golf Course. I did okay and so did Bud. Then we left there and went to Anna and Bill's and she made Italian Cheese Cake. Oh, my was that good. She said it takes ten eggs. We all had a nice time. It was a marathon day for me that started at 5 a.m so I was glad to get home.
On Monday we met Bill and Eva at Roosevelt Golf Course and golfed again. I improved a little but they sure have alot of sand traps. Then we had dinner at Mallory Country Club. Another full day....
Today we worked around the house and then Anna and I went to Katie Belle's to hear Mary Jo Viltale sing. She is marvelous. Then we came home, picked up the guys and went to the movie "Fast and Furious". It was better than I had expected. Lots of car chases and bang 'em ups...

Way Too Busy To Blog

Our time here is running out fast so we are packing in as many activities in as we can. I am only working on Sundays now and Easter Sunday is my last day to work here.
We have been golfing, dancing, eating out, shopping, etc. We have done so many things I can't even remember where or when.
Yesterday we had Barb and Dave over for breakfast. We went to the pool in the evening.
Today we golfed at Pelican with the neighborhood. We golfed awful and it is a very hard course. I will probably never play there again. Then we went to Cane Garden Country Club for lunch as it is probably the last time we will see some of these people. Then we came home and cooked for Easter at Bill and Eva's and then we made supper for Pam and Rod and after we ate we played nine holes at Hilltop. We have improved since this morning. Ha Ha.
They just left and I am resting up for tomorrow. We will be super busy.....

Wednesday and Thursday in the Villages

On Wednesday I had lunch at Katie Belle's with Lana and Anna. Very enjoyable. Then they came back here and we practiced the Cupid Shuffle.
We had a tee time at 5 at Saddlebrook but it poured down rain so we had to cancel. We need rain desperately but not on my golfing days...
Rod and Pam had us over for dinner, roast beef, carrots, potatoes and all the trimmings. UMM!! Then the six of us watched a comedy tape but we all had to go in their bedroom because the DVD player doesn't work in the living room. Then we headed for the living room and played Pictionary. What a fun evening!! Lots of good food and lots of laughs...
Today we went to the nursery and bought a few new plants. One is called a Knock-Out Rose bush that is suppose to survive the frost we get here sometimes in February and March. I hope it does.
Tonight me and Bud went golfing at Hilltop. I did pretty good, I think I am finally getting it. Sure wish we could stay and practice more...
Dakota called and told me all about his swimming lessons. Can't wait to see that. Evelyn got the family a new dog, Jackson, a long haired doxin. We will be home in about three weeks, it seems like we just left...

Bowling Banquet at Orange Blossom Country Club

On Monday it felt so good not to go to work. We just worked aroung here and then I went to the pool with Anna. The sun didn't feel all that hot but boy did I get some sun. I am so brown you won't recognize me. At five we met Pam and Rod and played golf at Silver Lake. Boy that is one tough course. We played a doubles scramble and they won, easily I might add. Then they came over and we had reruns of last night dinner. It was too good to waste.
On Tuesday I had a doctor's appointment and then I used my coupon I got in the mail and got some scratch off lottery tickets. I won $110. Yippee!!!
Then we went to Wal-Mart and Bud got his fountain he has been wanting. In one hand and out the other.
Tonight we attended our bowling banquet. We had prime rib, pretty good. We got our prize money for being in first place and then Jim took our picture outside of the country club.
Tomorrow it is suppose to be warm and sunny again. Can't wait.....

Our Bowling Team is Number One

On Saturday we went to some nice garage sales. Then I cooked in the afternoon, made lasagna for Sunday. Then we rode with Rod to the Orlando Airport to pick up Pam.
Today I worked and then came home and got ready for company. The Armsteads, the Mancos and us had dinner before we went bowling. We really pulled it off tonight. We all pulled together and we are tied for first place. There is no roll-off so I guess we just share the spotlight. The bowling banquet will be Tuesday at Orange Blossom Gardens.
So I am tired, it has been a long day...

Having Too Much Fun to Blog

My friend Sandy left on Friday. On Saturday we golfed, won the money, went to lunch. On Sunday I worked, then we bowled. We only won one game, bad night...
My boss gave me some days off in a row so we could go to Ft. Myers, we were suppose to leave on Sunday but we had to bowl. I had to cancel a doctor's appointment, gave away our concert tickets, cancel going to my Red Hats and we were on our way on Monday morning. We had a great time at Twyla and Don's house. We had a wonderful dinner at Hog Bodies (great food, awful name)went to the movies to see "Knowing" with Nicolas Cage, went golfing, went to Red Hats with Twyla's Red Hat group at this fancy Country Club called Magolia Landing, the guys went golfing at Sable Springs with Frank Griffith. Geri and Dan Taylor and Sandy met us in Ft. Myers at the Broadway Palm dinner theater and we saw "All Shook Up". On Thursday we went to the pool and laid in the sun, had lunch and headed for home. We had a great time. It is so nice to have friends all over, we meet up together and it is like we see them every week.
Today I worked, I needed the rest. Ha Ha. Tonight we cooked and we are just staying home. Tomorrow it is suppose to be 89 degrees here so I might be headed for the pool.

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is getting to be one of my favorite holidays. It is a great day to live in The Villages. I never saw so many people dressed up and wearing green. The parade was just great. Me and Sandy went down to the square early and saved two tables for our gang. There were nineteen of us there in our group. After the parade we walked to the Hacienda Rec Center for the Michigan Club. We had corn beef sandwiches and were entertained by Billie Thacher. She does a great job. By the end of the evening this event cordinator was exhausted.
Today Sandy and I went to the pool and then tonight we all went to Margaritaville to listen to karoke. Some of the people were good, some should take up another hobby. But is was fun...

Monday, March 16, 2009

Sandy is Here

I worked today so Bud had to entertain Sandy while I was gone. When I got home we had a light lunch and sat around and talked.
Sandy and I headed for Katie Belle's around 4 p.m. so we could get good seats for the Dunning Shaw-Donna Moore Show. Now this is the fourth time I have seen it and it was as good as the first. They certainly are a talented pair. Sandy really enjoyed. Jane and her relatives were there also on the first floor. This is her fifth or sixth time to see it, she has more company than I do...
Then we went to the the square and watched them dance and sing. After that we came home and went to the pool and hot tub. You sure meet some interesting people there. So now it is almost time to hit the hay....

Hot Rock Casino and Bowling

The girls went to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa on Thursday. It is a big casino with lots of machines and nice restaraunts. We took a bus from the Villages. I didn't win,I was ahead and then kept playing. I could kick myself....
The bus brought us back to the Villages and I went right over to the Hacienda Rec Center for our Italian American Club meeting. It was a great night. The entertainment was great, an Italian girl that could sing like a dream. Then they served us all ice cream sundaes. What more could you ask for.
On Friday I worked and then we went to the pool for a while and then came home, cooked and just stayed home. I needed that...
On Saturday we golfed with the neighborhood and even though we were one under we didn't win any money. We had a light lunch at El Santiago Country Club.
We picked up Pam and Rod for another adventure in the evening. We went to a fish restraunt in Lake Panasofee. The food was great and they give you so much...
Today I worked and we were swamped again. I just don't know where all these people come from, no one cooks at home...
I made cabbage rolls when I got home because my friend Sandy from Houghton Lake is coming for a few days. Then we went bowling and took all four points. Then we met Sandy and now they are watching the Larry The Cable Guy Roast.
So now I am going to bed, got to work tomorrow.

Tuesady and Wednesday-Fabulous

On Tuesday it was downright beautiful again here in the Villages. I went to the pool in the afternoon and then we met the Ohio Club at Bone Fish Restaurant for an early dinner. Bill and Eva sat with us and the food was excellent.
On Wednesday we got up really early, packed our coolers and took off for our monthly adventure. We decided to rent a pontoon boat and go down the St. John's River in search of wildlife and have lunch at a place along the way. We had such a beautiful day, you couldn't have ordered one better. We got the boat okay, Rod was cruising down the river and a river ranger turned on his siren and pulled us over. I guess we were going too fast, we should have been in idle but we didn't know that. We thought we were going slow enough. Well, he didn't give us a ticket but he posed for a picture trying to put handcuffs on Rod. Oh, my God, we had lots of laughs over that. We ate and drank and laughed all day. We started our trip at 8 a.m. and got off the boat at 5 p.m. We stopped and had lunch at the Swamp Water Inn. Then we went to Jane's and had dinner.
I have never seen that many alligators. You couldn't pay me enough to get in that water. They were everywhere. The scenery is fabulous but give me a good old Michigan Lake any day.....
So I am sunburned and warm and tired.

Monday-Sun & David Brenner

Worked today, pretty busy, no problems. It was absolutely gorgeous out today, 82 degrees and lots of sunshine. I sure hate to work on days like today.
I was starved when I got home so I wanted to go to the pool so I cooked us a couple of hamburgers but I got a bubble and my food did not stay down. That ruined my afternoon for me. So after I rested a bit, I went to Walmart and did a little shopping.
Tonight we went to see David Brenner, a comedian that was on Johnny Carson 158 times. He was great. He looks good for his age, 73 but his act was as good as ever. We have been entertained to the max again this year. It has been a wonderful year, I sure hate to see April coming around so fast...

Spectacular Three Days

On Friday we left for the Strawberry Festival at 10 a.m. We met all of our friends from Ft. Myers at Buddie Freddie's Restaraunt in Plant City and had lunch before we went into the festival. At the festival, which was huge, we had our strawberry shortcake, etc. We saw several shows that were free but excellent. We saw Dennis Lee, who is a wonderful entertainer, and also Vocal Trash who were good and had lots of energy. Then in the evening we saw Jeff Foxworthy. He put on a great show in the arena that held 15,000 people. I had heard most of his jokes before but there were some new ones too. He had the audience in the palm of his hand.
On Saturday we golfed with the neighborhood gang. Then we went to Pam and Rod to meet some friends of ours from Michigan. Then we went to a tailgate party and we played night golf. We had a ball. Bud won $15, which his only source of income these days.Golfing twice in one day is great..The evening was warm with a full moon. It was a beautiful evening.
Today I worked and had to get up really early (5:30 a.m.)to be there on time because of daylight savings time. Then we went to Pam and Rod's for a steak dinner, our payment for helping Rod with the kitchen. Then we went bowling. We took all four points, by the hair of our chinny, chin, chin. But we pulled it off and had fun..So now that I can hardly move, I am going to bed.

A Long Week

On Monday I worked. Very busy as usual.
On Tuesday we had our digital scrapbooking expo. It turned out extremely well, we had over 300 visitors to see our displays and show them how we do it. A lot of them were interested in joining our club and taking classes.
Yesterday we went shopping for some accessories for our living room. Found a few things but we bought a shelf that I want to take back. It looked better in the store than it does here. We went golfing with Pam and Rod, we played a couples scrable and we won.
Today we played shuffleboad at Laurel Manor. We took twelve points out of twenty-four. Tonight we just stayed home and rested. Tomorrow we go to Plant City to the Florida Strawberry Festival to see Jeff Foxworthy. There are twelve of us going so that should be fun.

Beautiful Saturday

The gals went to Mt.Dora for the day to shop and have lunch. Jane had company from Grand Rapids (she is the only person I know that has more company than we do) and we all had a great time. The guys went to Eustis to check some new golf carts. Then we all went to Sandy and Jim's house and sat out on the patio. Today I worked and it rained this morning and we were slammed. If you can't golf you might as well eat. I came home, made dinner and then we went bowling. We took three points and are now in fourth place. We should have taken all four points tonight but we just couldn't get it together.

Red Hats & Mardi Gras

Marguerite and I hosted the Red Hats girls today at my house. Bud and Ray cooked omelets in a bag for eighteen girls. We had fruit salad and pecan rolls, ate until we couldn't eat anymore and then we played Left, Right, Center. We also had a white elephant gift exchange. I got a really nice barbecue set. I also won the 50-50 drawing...I think they all had a great time.
Then after they all left we got dressed up for Mardi Gra. We met the gang at Spanish Springs Square and it was already packed by the time we got there. The outfits that people had were wonderful. We had a great time, had our picture taken by strangers and the newspaper. We all ate at Margueritaville, danced at the square and by then I was too pooped to pop. Linda really enjoyed the festivities.
This morning we lots of food left over from the Red Hats so the gang came for breakfast, more omelets in the bag, etc. We ate, laughed and ended up outside just shooting the breeze until around 2 p.m. Linda packed up and left and I just sort of vegged out for a while. Then I made macaroni salad for the Ohio Club potluck tonight.
By 5 o'clock we were on the road again to go to the Lake Miona Rec Center. We had a large table of friends and the entertainment was awesome. So now I am almost falling asleep while I am writing this. I have to go to work to rest up.....

Linda Loves The Villages

I went to work today leaving Bud to entertain Linda until I got home. He took her all around and to some open houses. She looked at some new houses but said she even liked our house better than the new ones. Tonight me and Linda went to Katie Belle's to see the Dunning Shaw and Donna Moore Show. They were all sold out but someone told me to go early and go upstairs to the Cattle Baron Restaurant and if you can get seats by the railing you can see the show. So that is what we did and it worked out beautifully. The seats were great, the food good and the show was wonderful. This is the third time I have seen it and it was as good as the first time. He is one of the best entertainers I have ever saw.
We got home and me and Bud got our veggies and meat ready for our Red Hat party tomorrow. We are expecting about 18 ladies so we will have a house full. Bud chopped and I made pecan rolls to bake in the morning. So right now I am tired....

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

Went to work today although I really didn't feel like it, oh well, it pays the bills. We were extremely busy and I didn't get out until late. Then Bud and I took the golf cart over to Wal-Mart and the Dollar Store to get some things I needed for our Red Hats on Tuesday. For dinner we had homemade chicken noodle soup which was very good, if I do say so myself.
In the evening we went bowling. Jane wasn't there but we still took three points from a really nice team. I bowled extremely well for me. Jane would be proud...
Then about 10:30 Linda Brietner showed up. She is visiting from Ida for a few days. We talked until 1 a.m. and then I had to go to bed so I could get up in the morning for work. Hopefully I can get off early, I have lots of things to show her.

Saturday, Busy Saturday

Got up early this morning because there is a really big neighborhood garage sale this morning and it starts at 8:30 which means you have to be there by 7 a.m. if you want to get the good stuff. We bought an Ohio State bag chair, a barbeque set, some really nice towels, a purple boa for Madi Gras, a Red Hat purse and a golf vest for me. Then we went shopping for a sofa table at Southern Life Styles. Then we met Pam, Rod, Eva and Bill for the Ohio Club Golf Cart Poker Run. There were 85 people going on the run. None of us won anything but first prize was $50. Then we all went to IHop to eat. It wasn't bad but no atmosphere at all. Then we went over to Pam and Rod's to check out their new granite counter tops and back splash. It sure looks nice. Then after a few brewskys, we headed for the Cruise-In. They had over 200 cars there and the weather was fantastic. The girls headed for the dancing in the square and guys headed to look at cars they once had and can now not afford. Then we ended up in Marguritaville eating grouper balls and listening to music.
I had to hurry up and finish this before I head to bed, it has been a fun but tiring day....

Three Days Off

I spent my three days off running as usual. On Tuesday we worked on the living room, went shopping, etc.In the evening I went to casino night at the Michigan Club. I was really hot on the crap table, too bad we were only playing for fake money..just my luck. But I did win $20 in the raffle. On Wednesday I ran around again, then I cooked a nice meatloaf. We went golfing with Rod and Pam, they won again....but however I did get on the green twice and we had one birdie. However we really screwed up that last hole,ugh...
Then they came back here to eat and decorate, move furniture, etc.
On Thursday we got up to rain. I know we need rain desperately but not on Thursday...that is our shuffleboard and they called it off again. I went to Katie Belle's to get tickets for Linda and me, no such luck, they are all sold out. I got my nails done came home and worked on my scrapbook pages. We are having our expo the first week of March.
Today I worked all day and then met Marguerite at Publix's to buy the food for our Red Hat Brunch on Tuesday.
I came home, made homemade chicken noodle soup, had dinner and now I am resting and reading my new book. Tomorrow is another day....

St. Valentines Day in the Villages

On Saturday morning Bud went with Jim and Mike to help Rod install his kitchen plumbing. They got it done before we had to go to the Polo Field for our Valentine Day show.
We went with some of our friends and they have been advertising for a month, decent price, it sounded so good. Wrong!!!. First they said we couldn't tailgate so we didn't. Well, lots of people did, they set up their tables right where other people could have seen better and heard better. We sat up our chairs and then checked out what was advertised as crafts and vendors. Wrong!! Same old vendors we have at the square four times a week. That's exciting. The acts were okay, nothing special so after about three hours of sitting in the hot sun (92 degrees) we left.
We went home home and got our golf clubs and golfed on Chula Vista. We had a great time and golfed until we couldn't see the ball anymore.
On Sunday I worked and then we went to Lowe's in Ocala because our Lowe's didn't have what Bud needed. He has most of the plantation shutters up and they look fantastic. We had verticals but they were original to the house, nice but they really dated the place. This house is getting to look like a little Florida doll house, really cute, I think. Then we went bowling and had a blast. We took three points from the second place team. We only lost the last game by 30 pins. I finally bowled every game a little over my average. That sure helps the team.
Today, Monday, I worked. We were really busy, almost like a Sunday. I am sure glad I have three days off, got lots of things planned....
