Company from The Villages

Jim and Jane were here for two days in their motorhome in our backyard. They have a new dog named Walter. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen. It is a cross between a Yorkie and and a Shitso and will only get about six pounds. It looked like a stuffed beanie baby.
We had a real nice time, we went to Pam's for a picnic and played cornhole. We went and got the first really good sweetcorn of the season. I was in hog heaven...I love my sweetcorn.
Jim liked all the barns and cars we have around here. We went out for pizza last night and they left today. They will stop at Pam and Rod's on their way to Pidgeon Forge.
So I didn't do much today. Just rested and will do my running around tomorrow.

Babysitting Dakota

I spent most of the day with Dakota today. He is such a cute kid with energy to spare. I took him to Carr Park and he made friends right away with a little girl and they had a ball on all of things that the park has to offer. Playgrounds sure are different from when I was a kid. We had a few swings and a teeter-totter on cement and if you fell off, well, oh well. You ended up crying or getting stitches. Now all the equipment is on wood chips about a foot deep. You sink in when you walk. Everything is made of plastic and there was at least one parent for every kid there. My mom would send us to the park and we would be gone all day. She never even checked on us. Just be home for dinner. It is a different world today.
We went shopping and then to Pam's and Dakota beat Pam bowling on the WII game. It is pretty sad when you can't beat a four year old.
I have to go to the dentist first thing in the morning. I sure dread that. Jim and Jane from the Villages should be here around noon. It will be so good to see them.

The Parlour in Jackson Michigan

On Tuesday we went to Toledo to get a part for Bud's router, went to see the in-laws, and dropped off a pillow for Dave to keep his leg up on.
Tuesday evening Pam and Dave came for dinner and I made pork chops, they were delicious. Then Dave got the bright idea to go to Jackson to get ice cream. It is a fifty-eight mile ride from our house, so Bud programmed the GPS and off we went. A GPS only works if you follow the directions but Bud didn't so we got lost. But we finally got there. Their ice cream is so big and good. I couldn't possibly eat one but Bud and Dave did.It is such a cute place and just a fun evening. Everyone should go there at least once...
Today me and Pam went to Jennifer's house to see our great niece Lauren. She was born premature while we were in Florida and had to stay in the hospital a long time. Today she was so cute and smiling. It makes me feel so sad that my little sister is missing out on her grandchild. She would love that baby. I am so glad we went to see her before she got too big.
It is raining today and kind of crappy outside. Steve and his friends went to the Mud Hens game, hope it didn't get rained out. Television is terrible tonight and now the President is going to be on. They will tell you a hundred times tomorrow what he said so you really don't have to watch. I just wish he could get this economy going, today when I had my nails done, there are six empty storefronts in that plaza. When will it end....

Pam & Rod

Pam and Rod came on Saturday afternoon. It was so good to see them. We went to Brenda's to eat and then to Pam and Dave's to play Mexican Train. Then our brother-in-law Chuck came to visit for a while and then Jason, Jessica and the kids came so our Mexican Train game had to be put on hold. We went outside and played Corn-Hole. We had fun but what really was fun was watching JoJo do her card magic tricks. She did it for me at the hospital and fooled me and she fooled both Pam and Rod. We had lots of laughs over that. I thought they were staying until Monday morning but they had to get home to baby-sit so when we got home Bud and I made our pecans rolls and breakfast casserole at midnight so it would be ready in the morning. I got up early to turn the oven on and I got dizzy and was throwing up. That did me in for the rest of the day. Pam and Dave came over to help get the breakfast going and I laid in my chair. Bud and Rod worked on a wood project in the barn and I laid in my chair, afraid to move my head. Pam watched movies and I laid in my chair. By late afternoon I could move so we went to Bill's birthday party but I wasn't much fun. I sat in my chair. They have a lovely house on the east side of Toledo and Bill has his garage filled to the brim with projects. He is a tinkerer like Bud. He got lots of nice gifts, the food was good but I was way out of it. That medicine just does me in. Today I slept until about 10:30, almost unheard of for me. I just laid around most of the day, I can hardly move. Anna was here and we visited for awhile. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow. I think right now some sherbet might make me feel better. What do you think? I finished my book by Debbie Macomber. It is a series about a woman that owns a yarn shop. It is the third or fourth book and I really enjoyed it. Just a good woman's book.

Busy Getting Ready For Company

I have been trying to get things ready for Rod and Pam to come and visit. They will be here tomorrow. Last night we went to meet a lot of our camping friends that are going to a big rally in Bowling Green Ohio. We begged off, we have been to Bowling Green many times and it was just too expensive. We had dinner with Pat and Gary Graves and Glen and Karen Perkin.
Today Bud had to fix my car. The air conditioner wouldn't work and I was so afraid it would be the entire thing again. We put $1200.00 dollars in it two years ago and I sure was not prepared to do that again. But he played around with it, found out it only needed a relay switch and fixed it for seven dollars. I know I am very blessed that he can fix most everything. If not we would be in a heap of trouble.....
I have been scrapbooking tonight and playing Scrabble with Pam. I keep beating her and everynight she wants to play again. We should be playing for money...

My Brother-In-Law Had His Surgery

I spent the day with Pam, Jason, Jessica and the kids at St. Ann's Hospital. Dave had his hip surgery and they scraped his hip and took off the bone spurs, etc. He wasn't feeling too good when he woke up from surgery. He was freezing cold and shivering and in pain. They gave him a really warm blanet and some morphine so we left so he could go back to sleep. Jason's kids were there the whole time and they were wonderful. If everyone's kids acted like that there would be a million more kids running around. They are delightful to be around.
We went to lunch and then I came home.
Today I went grocery shopping and then went to Pam's to check on Dave. He was walking a little with his crutches and still in pain. They gave him Perocets and then he went to bed.
Tonight we just played on the computer, finished my book, cleaned up the kitchen and did a scrapbooking page. Can't wait until our company from the Villages come this weekend.
Steve, Anna, Scott, Evelyn and Matt are leaving in the morning for St. Louis to attend an AMC Car Show. They are hauling their cars, I sure hope they have a good time and good weather.

More Garage Sales & Golf

We had our last day of the garage sale on Friday. It was pretty slow and no excitment like on Thursday. On Saturday morning, Pam, Dave, me and Bud went golfing at Giant Oak in Temperance, Michigan. It is a real nice golf course, I have been driving pass it for years but it is just off the road so you can't see it. It was the nicest golf course so far that we have tried. We had a coupon so that was even better. Then we went to Brenda's to eat a early dinner. It is on the corner of M-151 and Lewis Avenue. They had the best broasted chicken. Everyone was very pleased with their food so I know we will return. I figured they had to have good food or they would have closed by now. It is not the best location in the world.
Today I worked around here, keeping the garbage man busy by throwing things away. We had an estimate for our new roof. He quoted us around $17,000. I almost laughed in his face. When he left Bud said he had better get his knee pads and the nail gun out. That is almost what we paid to have this house built. I realize things have went up but that is totally out of line.
Evelyn and Matt and Harly were over this afternoon. Megan turned eighteen this weekend, boy do I feel old.....

My Life of Golfing and Garage Sales

We made plans to go golfing at Giant Oak Golf Course and of course Pam told Bill and Eva to go to Maple Grove Golf Course. So when no one showed up we called them and they said they were at Maple Grove so even though we had already paid we hauled ass over to Maple Grove to play there. We didn't golf that well but had a good time. From now on I will make the phone calls and arrange things.
On Thursday we had Pam's garage sale. Watching the people is so much fun and she sure had some characters. One lady in particular was extremely interesting. First of all she was kind of dirty, was smelly and had no teeth. Now you can't tell a book by its cover. I could have swore she drove an old beater. Guess what,Her and her husband were driving a hummer. She asked the prices of everything, asked us to hold some things for her until she went to the bank and brought back her husband. So after a while here they come to pick up her things and her husband backs the hummer into another car, she goes berserk and starts yelling at him. He comes in the back yard and wants to use the restroom so I had to go into the house and watch him, all of our purses, etc were in there. Jason and Jessica help them load their things and they go. Pretty soon they are back and he comes in the back yard and says, "You tore my leather seats". Boy oh Jess got her back up and said,"We never touched your seats". He backed right down and left.(Hopefully for good). We had people with purple hair, tattoos, piercings,Michael Jackson hats, no teeth, dirty and then we had a family that looked like they could have been on a magazine cover. Oh well, it sure made the day by fast. Tomorrow is another day...I sure hope I can sell that bread maker.
It is suppose to be hot tomorrow so I am taking my suit.

Happy Fourth of July

We spent Fourth of July at Pam's house this year again. All my kids went their separate ways, parties at the pond, camping in Traverse City and Steve was camping with his firemen friends. Eva,Bill,Dave and Pam and me and Bud enjoyed a wonderful steak roast and then we played a rousing game of Mexican Train until it was time to go see the fireworks. We went to Jessica's mom's house in Luna Pier right on Lake Erie. The city of Luna Pier put on the fireworks show but the neighbors were having a contest to see which one of them had the best display also. Boy, those people must have spent thousands of dollars. It was fun, really loud and beautiful but I think they have more money than brains. I can't imagine, even if I had it, which I don't, spending that much money on fireworks. Oh well, we enjoyed it and it didn't cost us anything. I have always wanted to live on a lake. I don't suppose that will ever happen.

Went Golfing Today

Bud,Pam and I went golfing today at Maple Grove on Secor Rd. It has a nine hole executive course and on Thursdays they only charge five dollars. It was okay, cetainly not the Villages but not too bad. I even got a par on the fourth hole. After that we visited Bud's dad for a while and then went to Pam's and had pizza. It was on the cool side today, a good golfing day. Now I think I will work on my scrapbooking for a while and then read.

Wonderful Motorhome Rally

We went camping with our motorhome group on Wednesday at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. We had sixty motorhomes attending and we were in charge and it was hot, African hot.... Don and Twyla came to spend a few days with us in our motorhome so they could go the baseball game. I got 51 tickets and we all caravaned to Meijers in Toledo and the bus picked us up and took us downtown. The Toledo Mud Hen Stadium is beautiful. Just before we left the fairgrounds we had a bad storm, rain, hail, wind and a tornado warning. But as soon as the warning was over we piled into cars to head to Toledo. We sure don't let a little thing like a tornado stop us. It rained all the way down and I thought for sure there would be no game. We sat there and watched them cover the field, uncover the field, cover the field, uncover the field and by 8:40 they finally started the 7 p.m. game. We had the best seats in the house and we all had a great time.
On Friday the guys golfed eighteen holes at Carrington Woods and the ladies went to Red Hats. On Saturday some of us went to the Flat Rock Speedway and watched the figure eight races.
By the time Sunday came I was totally wiped out. We cleaned up the campground, loaded up and came home. It was one long week...
We came home to a few problems, the dishwasher was not working properly, the microwave died, there is a mouse in the kitchen and ants by my computer. So Bud fixed the dishwasher, we got a new over the stove microwave, we caught the mouse and I am still working on the ants. There is not one thing that would attract those small sugar ants by my computer so I am cleaning and spraying and going nuts.
Now I am going to go and watch TV and rest.
