Busy Busy Busy

After shuffleboard all of went to Bob Evans to eat to celebrate another shuffleboard season come and gone. We finished about fourth from the bottom. Oh well, there is always next year.
On Friday the entire neighborhood went to the Olive Garden for dinner and then over to Bob and Meridith's for dessert. What a nice evening we all had.
On Saturday we golfed at Pelican, I should have stayed home, it is such a hard course, way too many sand traps, water and brush to go over. Then we didn't go to lunch with everyone but instead hurried over to the Polo Field for a golf cart poker run for charity with the Parrot Head Club. There were 900 golf carts entered and then they had hot dogs, etc. for everyone. We were so hungry that at one of the stops, Arnold Palmer Golf Course we stopped and had hamburgers out on the patio. What a great view there is there. Then we continued the poker run. None of us had a good hand...Oh well, it was for charity.
On Sunday I worked, the busiest day for the season so far. It was Palm Sunday and sort of raining so we were packed to the max. In the evening we had our last night of bowling. Two of Jane's sons are in town and they came to cheer us on. They were even doing the wave. We took one game and total pins, losing the other two games, one by eight pins and one by nine pins. That really hurts.
On Monday I worked, my co-worker was sick so I had to do all the running, it was not pretty.
By the time I got home I was pooped.
Tuesday Bud worked at the neighbors and I spent the afternoon at the pool. How wonderful. We had a five thirty tee time at Walnut Grove with Pam and Rod. We played a scramble and they won by two strokes. What a nice golf course. Bud said we have played there before but I sure don't remember that. Then they came over to eat dinner, I had made home made vegetable soup and tuna fish sandwiches. Anna and Bill came over also and we talked until eleven o'clock. It was a great day.
Today I am doing laundry and getting ready to go to the pool..

Busy Days and Nights

On Monday I worked, very busy. In the evening we played golf at Hilltop.
Tuesday was our Red Hat event. We had lunch at Perkins and then had a speaker, a criminologist who lives in The Villages and wrote a mystery book. She was quite interesting and I bought her book, so far it is okay.
Wednesday was a nice day, Bud worked at the neighbors and I made homemade Macoroni and Cheese for our Ohio Buckeye potluck. We went to the meeting, the entertainment was okay but we have seen them before, which wouldn't be so bad if they would change their material. The food was good but I didn't win the raffle.
Today we are getting ready for our last shuffleboard day. Hope I do as well as last week. This morning I made my brownies so I can make "Death By Chocolate" for tomorrow night.

Wpderful Week

Friday was Bud's birthday so when I got home from work, I went to the pool and then we went to RJ Gator's with Bill and Anna. They have wonderful grouper. While I was at the pool the guys came and poured our cement. It sure didn't take them very long.
On Saturday we played golf with the neighborhood at Hawkes Bay. I golfed so good it scared me. Then we went to El Santiago Country Club for lunch, bad experience. We were the first to order and never got our food. Finally we got and I just took it home, we didn't have to pay for it. Barb and Dave were over for most of the evening, he really likes that Wii game.
Today I worked, very busy, it rained all day. Tonight we bowled and I bowled over my average every game, we took five points, two games and total pins. Now I am just relaxing and ready to go to bed...

Orange Blossom Opry-Great Entertainment

It is Thursday evening, we spent the day cleaning up from the party. The men came and got the driveway ready to pour the cement. After they left we just had time to get to our shuffleboard league. I could not do anything wrong today in shuffleboard, won all three games. That was the best I have played in a long time. It was quite chilly today again, that darn wind. I was glad to get home. We had leftovers from last night for dinner and then met Jim and Jane and her brothers and wife at the Orange Blossom Opry House. It was fantastic tonight. The talent there is amazing. One sixteen year old boy sang "The Tennessee Waltz" and he was outstanding. You wouldn't think a young kid would like those old songs. I know I sure love them, give an old county song anytime.
Now I have just talked to Aunt Susie about her trip to Ft. Myers and now I am going to get ready to go to bed and rest up for tomorrow.

A Wonderful Week in the Villages

I don't know where to start but I will try and remember what we have been doing. Eight of us went to the Florida Strawberry Festival on Thursday. We have had our tickets for a long time for the bus trip and the show so when it was pouring rain out we decided to just go, you can't get a refund. So it rained all the way there but when we got there it cleared up enough that we didn't get soaked and we got to see lots of exhibits and things. By the time the Oak Ridge Boys started their show, which is outside, it had started sprinkling again but not too bad. The show was as good as they ever were and it sure brought back lots of memories of when my kids were little when they sang "Elvira". We also celebrated Bud's birthday with cards and a cake. He is now sixty eight years old. Doesn't that sound ancient...
We golfed at Hilltop on Saturday and I got "Closest to the Pin". We had lunch at Orange Blossom Country Club.
On Sunday I worked and then we bowled. We only won one game...oh well.
Monday I worked,Tuesday we went to Jane's for breakfast so she could practice making omelets in a bag.
Wednesday was St. Patrick's Day, my favorite holiday in The Villages. We cooked in our big pot that we brought from home, corned beef, cabbage and carrots. There were twelve of us and we had a ball. We played corn hole, Wii bowling and went down to the square to see the parade. It was a wonderful day and when they they left, I was totally exhausted.
Today B & D Construction is getting our driveway ready to pour. It really irrates Bud that he can't do it himself, no tools etc. So we hired it done and he doesn't like to do that. We are now headed to Mulberry to play shuffleboard.

Welcome To The Family-Aaron Matthew

As of March 1st, we are great-grandparents of a little boy named Aaron Matthew who weighed in at six pounds, eleven ounces. Megan had a hard time with toxemia but now is okay and ready to take on the responsibily of a little boy. I can't wait to get home and hold him.
I haven't written before because I was waiting for some pictures.
Last week was kind of a blur, busy as usual. We golfed at Hilltop on Saturday, had lunch at Orange Blossom Country Club, in the evening we went to a fundraiser that was suppose to have been blue grass music and they didn't show. It was good but not what I expected.
Worked like a dog on Sunday, busy, busy, busy. Got home, Bud made dinner and I took a nap so I could go bowling. It must have helped because I bowled a 155, very good for me. We only won one game....
On Monday I worked and then went and got Pam's renters their guest passes. In the evening the whole gang went to Jane's for a souper supper. Their were twelve of us and we had bean soup, split pea soup, salad, brushetta, rolls, and brownies. It was a lot of fun and very good.
Today I had plans to go to the pool since yesterday while I was working the sun was shining and it was beautiful out. Well, today it was a little windy and cloudy and kind of warm but not exactly pool weather for me. I went anyway and stayed about two hours. Bud worked on his Michigan corn hole game and now we are just relaxing in front of the boob tube.

Visited Ft. Myers

I worked on Sunday, bowled and worked on Monday. As soon as I got home we left for Ft. Myers to stay with Don and Twyla for a few days. On Tuesday we helped them with a few things and then ten people came for dinner. Wednesday twelve of us went to the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater to see the King and I. It was a glorious production and we all enjoyed it. Thursday we cooked again and had ten people over for a potluck dinner and we had fun eating, talking and playing WII. We left at seven and got home around eleven o'clock. I fell into bed because I had to go to work today. It wasn't all that busy and we had lots of help so she asked me if I wanted an early day and I jumped at that.
So this afternoon I kind of took it easy, did my WII Fit exercises and did some errands.
We just took our showers and are now watching TV. I love to go visiting but it is so nice to be home....
