Too Busy To Write

I have had such a wonderful week that I have been too tired and too busy to write. Le's see if I can remember all the things we have done. I worked on Monday, we played golf. On Tuesday I went to Red Hats for our Christmas in January party. On Wednesday eight of us took Jim and Jane's RV and traveled to Deland Florida to the State Park, cooked our own pancakes in an old mill and then went to another state park to see the manatees. We had a wonderful time, it was such a beautiful day, good friends, good food and plenty of laughs. In the evening we went to the Ohio Club meeting, potluck, raffle and entertainment.
Thursday it rained most of the day so we stayed home and I worked on my digital scrapbooking.
On Friday I worked and then me and Jane played golf at Hilltop. Today we played golf with the neighborhood gang. We came in second place, Bud had a birdie putt and had one heck of hit to give us a par on a very hard hole. We all ate lunch at Bob Evans, we went to the bookstore and then to Wal-Mart.

Marathon Sunday

Went to work today, very busy. Got home and Barb and Dave came over to say goodbye as they are leaving tomorrow for six weeks in New Zealand. Then I hurried up and got cleaned up and headed over to ToleDel Sol Country Club for dinner to celebrate Pam and Rod's 40th wedding aniversary. I got her a little metal pin that had a 40 on it, her medal for being with Rod for 40 years.
Then we went bowling, took only one game out of four and lost total pins by twenty points. We should have taken four points, easily.
Now I am ready to go to bed and relax.....it has been a very busy day.

It's Finally Warm Again

On Friday I worked, got my nails done and we went to Wally World, again...In the evening I sort of fell asleep in my chair, I was a bad girl. I have so many scrapbook pages to do and I just couldn't get out of my chair.
Today was just a perfect day.I made white chicken chili for the first time today. Then we went and played miniature golf at a really nice place. We went with the Ohio Buckeye Club. Pam got a hole in one. Then we went to Pimlico Rec Center and had pizza and ice cream and got our prizes. We didn't win anything for golfing but I won ten dollars in the raffle. Then we went home, got the golf cart, clubs and went and played golf with Pam and Rod at Mira Mesa. We played best ball by couples and they won by four strokes. We were winning most of the way until the sixth hole. Oh well, we had a great time.
Then we came over here and ate hamburgers and soup. It turned out pretty good. They all said they liked it. We called Jim and Jane and they came over to eat too. These impromptu dinners are the best, no muss, no fuss
It was just a beautiful day, in fact we were hot out there in the sun..But I am not complaining a bit, we just love it here....

It Was Cold This Morning

It got down to 26 degrees last night, cold enough for what they call a hard freeze. But the sun was shining all day and when we went shuffleboarding, I wore my coat and I had to take it off, it warmed right up. I should have stayed home,me and Bud both lost all of our games but our team held us up and we got 13 games out of 24. We also had to forfeit three games because some people didn't show up. If you can't make it you should try to get a sub.
Then we went to Wally World, cooked dinner and I am working on my digital scrapbooking entries. I know I have certain pics, and do you think I can find them. One of these days, I will get organized....
Got to work tomorrow..

No Dancing on the Square Tonight

It is quite chilly here in The Villages. Tuesday I went to digital scrapbooking and the sun was shining but the wind was blowing hard. When I got home we picked all of our lemons off the tree because they said there was going to be a hard freeze. Tuesday night we went to our Michigan Club for a meeting and potluck. We signed up for night golf and St. Patrick's Day festivities.
Today I payed bills, schredded papers and just relaxed. This evening we went to the Church on the Square to see Dunning Shaw. He is just a marvelous entertainer. It was a great show and then the Godfreys and me and Bud had dinner at Ruby Tuesday.
We are getting that cold front from up north and tonight was the first time I can ever remember that there was no band in the square. I guess people don't really want to dance outside when the temperature is only 33 degrees. Everyone has their tender plants covered up with blankets and sheets. This weather should only last one more day, I hope so, we have to play shuffleboard tomorrow and have a tee time on Saturday. Oh, the life of a Villager....

Wonderful Sunday & Monday in the Villages

On Sunday I worked and we were super busy....I can't believe with all of the restaraunts in the Villages that we are always packed. Oh well, it keeps me in a job but it is making an old lady of me for sure...
We had some Michigan people over for a potluck before we went bowling. It went pretty good. I couldn't do all of these things if Bud didn't get most things ready while I am at work. He had the food cooking (I made it the day before) had the tables set up and everything nice and clean. I thank God everyday for him.
We had a great time at bowling, Bud had two great games and Rod had one that might get him in the standings. We took four points.
By the time we got home I was too pooped to blog, that is for sure.
Today I worked again. Martin Luther King day, no work for anyone so they all go out to eat, hurray, hurray. It was standing room only. So tonight I am staying home, eating leftovers and working on my digital scrapbooking. Our competition is in February and I would sure like to be ready for a change.

Computer Failure Causes Me to Be Way Behind

My motherboard on my computer quit working so it has been a few days since I have written. I have been so busy I can't even remember all the things we have done.
I worked and it has been extremely busy. Friday night we pre-bowled so we could attend a concert on Sunday night. I took Monday off because I went and signed up for my Social Security. Boy, do I feel old now....
Sunday night we went to see "Phil Dirt and the Dozers". It was an excellent evening and then we all went to Jane's and had Tarasumi and Cherry Cobbler. I have to say we do eat quite well here in the Villages.
Monday night we went and saw an impersonator of Tina Turner. Not the best show we have seen here, not terrible but not as good as usual.
Tuesday it rained all day, very unusual here but we need the rain.
Thursday we played shuffleboard, we only took 9 games out of 24. Not our best day. Friday I worked hard, way too many customers..Friday night we went to see "Grand Torino". It was a great movie, will make millions, but it does have lots of racial slurs in it. If I shut my eyes, I would swear my Dad was in the movie. I got sick in the middle of the movie so I didn't see the ending. But I will go to see it again.
Today we golfed at Hawk's Bay. It was a little chilly but after we got going it was fine. We tied for first place so we finally got some money.
When I got home I made two lemon meringue pies and then the Manco's came for dinner. It was an enjoyable evening with two great friends.
So it is almost 11 p.m. and I am going to hit the sack....

Breezy Thursday

Today didn't go as planned. I had planned to get up and make my pies but work called and they really needed someone so I told them I had to be out of there by 12:30 as I had to go to my shuffleboard leaugue. So they said okay. So I worked and then we played shuffleboard. It was windy again today but beautiful out. We took 15 games out of 24.
This evening we attended our Italian American Club meeting. We were entertained by a guy named Ken Manson who labels himself as a "Blind Humorist Pianist". He was very entertaining and quite talented. They served doughnuts and coffee and had a 50/50 raffle which I did not win, again.
So it is getting late and tomorrow is another work day....

Wednesday was Rainy and Breezey

Today I went grocery shopping, I have to do that now and then. I had to get some sugar to make some lemon meranue pies for tomorrow. It started raining about 10:30 a.m. and it came down in buckets for a short period and then it stopped. About noon the cold front started to come in and the wind picked up. By the time our tee time came around it was really blowing but we went anyways. Eva and Bill always come this way so we went over by their house today and played at Truman. It was a beautiful course but very hilly with lots of water. We all played quite well and had a nice time even playing in gale force winds. We were high on the hill and the wind even blew Eva's ball off of the tee.
Then we went to their house and she made a wonderful meal of ribs and potato salad, made the German way with apples in it. It was wonderful. We ate like pigs after that workout in the wind...
So I am home now and tired....

Terrific Tuesday

The first Tuesday of the month is always Digital Scrapbooking. We sure learn a lot there, Margie taught us how to do powerpoint. Now if I can just remember when I get home. Marguerite and I had a mixup on lunch. I said, "Let's go to Beef O'Brady's because I have a tee time. She said, okay. When we left the meeting she said, " I have to go to the bathroom first, so I'll meet you there. I went to Beef O'Brady's in Mulberry Square, got a seat and she never came. So I went on home. She went to Beef O'Brady's in Southern Trace, got a seat and I never came, so she went home. I never thought to tell her what one I was going to and neither did she. Miscommunacation in action. So we missed lunch...
When I got home Bud and Dave had been riding around all morning in Dave' classic car and they had lunch at Beef O'Brady's.
We had a 3:30 tee time at El Sandiago with Pam and Rod. We had so much fun..We played partners best ball and me and Bud won. My new clubs are sure working for me.
Then we went to TooJays for dinner and then to Marguaritaville for drinks and to listen to "The Piano Man". He was quite good but all the seats were full except for a table with four high bar stools. Not comfortable for me and Pam at all. Our legs are not long enough. But we had a great day..

Monday Night is Bunco Night

Worked today, not swamped but very, very steady. I got home and Bud and Dave were sitting on the porch drinking beer. I say, "What is wrong with this picture.?" I am out working my butt off and he is sitting here enjoying himself. Oh, well I guess he deserves it after all these years. My day will come someday...
Tonight, Jane, Pam and me went to Lake Miona and played Bunco. Top prize was $67. I was two games short of winning. My luck. It was the first time for Jane and she really enjoyed it...The place was full, lots of men tonight also. They were sure having a great time. One woman was screaming, and yelling. It was her first time ever and she had four buncos. She is from Pennsylvania and had never heard of Bunco before. Some lady asked her if she lived in a cave.
Jane picked me up and on the way home we were making plans of things to do. She wants us girls to go golfing on our own. Sounds good to me...

It's Bowling Season Again

Today I worked, never got home until about three o'clock. Busy as ever. You should hear the people complain because the snow birds are back. They don't stop to realize that all these businesses here depend on them, without them they will fail.
We ate leftovers for dinner and then we went to the bowling alley. This is our second year with the Michigan Bowling League and we had a great time. We all bowled terrible, lost all four points but were definitely the loudest team in the place. We laughed, yelled, booed and screamed but it didn't help our scores. Oh well, next week we strike again.
I've had another long day, I am going to bed....

Friday & Saturday in The Villages

Friday, worked all day, very, very busy. I was pooped when I got home. The neighbors, Barb and Dave came over for dinner. He just loves my cabbage rolls. She won't make them for him, says they are too much work. I really like to make them, so I don't mind.
On Saturday we sort of slept later than usual. We had an 11 a.m. tee time at Oakleigh with the neighborhood golfers. We golfed with Karen and Louie, had a nice time but didn't come in for the money. I did, however, make an excellent putt for a birdie. We had a light lunch at the El Santiago Country Club.
Then we came home, washed our faces and went to Sumter Landing to meet Pam and Rod. They had a huge arts and crafts sale around the whole square and down the side streets. They really had some fine things. Then we went to see the movie "Benjamin Button". It was a great movie. Brad Pitt was wonderful. He is gorgeous in this picture, reminds me of a young Marlon Brando. I thought he was okay before but I sure liked him in this movie. A must see....
Then we walked down to Bravo Pizza and had a late dinner. They certainly have the best pizza.
Our dear friends are now all home from their Christmas trips up north. Mancos, Testes and Godfreys are back. I think I heard from all of them the same thing, never again in the winter. I am just glad they are back
Now when I finish this, I am going to bed.

Happy New Year Everyone

I didn't write yesterday because, I guess I just didn't want too..We shopped, cooked and visited with friends. Last night we sort of just watched movies and had a very quiet New Year's Eve.
Today a cold front came through and it was quite a bit cooler than yesterday and it was quite windy when we went and played golf again with Bill and Eva. We did quite well and had a really nice afternoon. They followed us home to eat dinner with us. The cabbage rolls were excellent. They just left and now it is time to put myself in the mood to go to work tomorrow. Oh well, another day, another dollar...
